90' AWD Tranny

Now first off, I know nothing of transmissions, only of how they operate in unison with the clutch assembly. Never taken one apart.

Now not too long ago I bought a GSX, RUNNING, for $250 locally. The trans works.. kinda. The 1st-2nd gear Synchro is GONE. I cann't engage 2nd, and 1st will not engage unless you're at a complete stop. =/ So... here's my delima.

1 : Do I rebuild the tranny? No one around here will touch a manual.. and those who will quote over $1000...but I'm not looking to spend that much.

2 : Do I just buy a new one? Should I stick with a 90'? I know the spline count is different... and my T-Case is still good... but... hell I can't find another 90' Trans.. =/

3 : Should I go with a 91-94? I know there are a few different things... but I'm not completely sure as of what those are, and I am currently reading up on them.

>.< What should I do? I don't know of any junk yards in my area that has any AWD DSMs. The only salvage yard that keeps DSMs doesn't do Turbo'd ones.. for whatever retarded reason.

Anyway... yeah.. just a little confused on what I should do.

The 90 and 91-94 AWD trannies are a bit different...for one, the 90 has a 22 spline shaft and the 91-94 has 23.

You can have your tranny rebuilt by Jack or Shep for about $1000. You have to ship it to them.

As far as switching to a 91 tranny, you have to get a new T-Case and you have to also get shift cables from the 91+ since they are different. Other than that, I believe everything else is the same.

Aren't some of the early 91's 22 spline?

=/ I'd much rather just get a different one as I don't want to spend $1K for a stock GSX...
