Hi all,

I just joined the forums because I have an awesome '87 Dodge Colt Vista with transmission problems. I was told I need a new transmission or a rebuild, I don't have 3rd or 5th gear so I've been driving "creatively" for a while, but now I fear that the car is going to strand me soon so I have parked it. I can only do basic repairs so no way I can tackle this transmission on my own. It's the 5 speed Manual w/ 4WD, I have a spare transmission with different issues so it might be possible to combine them into one "good" transmission.

I'm in the Seattle area and calling around I can't find anyone to work on the transmission (I have a mechanic who is willing to work on the rest of the car). One transmission shop told me I should throw in the towel, but the car is in GREAT shape and I really love this car, I just can't find anyone willing to work on the transmission for me. Does anyone know anyone willing to work on my transmission on in WA or Oregon? If there's somewhere in CA I suppose I could try driving it down if I had to. Desperate for help here, thanks!
