He isn't running one of his transmissions anymore :shhh:

We are running our shepracing dog box that we have been testing all year so yes it is still a trans we build and will be selling as of now. The gear ratios were designed for drag use with a taller 1st gear that can hold up to whatever you can put to it unlike the gvr4 1st gear. Also the stock gearing will take you to 176 if you rev it high enough.

Awesome work John! I always enjoy watching videos of your DSM. I cant wait to see more. Keep them coming!! :thumb:

Do you have any plans for transfer cases and rear ends should they eventually become the weak link in the chain...

I believe he runs a stock rear diff with driceshaft shop axles. the transfer case i believe is also made by the driveshaft shop. Go to their website and they have something about a transfer case that you can buy now and how they were made for john and sean because of how much power they are making.

Nice run and damn that new setup makes your car sound like it's pissed off before you leave the line! OMG

I'd like to know more about this trans if possible? Please expect a call tomorrow and I'm curious if it's going to cost as much as other dogbox transmissions?

Shep - I am assuming your still running the 2.0L? I didnt know it could rev to 10k! :rocks: CRAZY! Keep those vids comin, theyre the best and so are you for tearing sh*t up and making DSMs look so damn good!

this was the highlight of my nopi weekend the rest of it was nothing special. bristol is usually slower than most other tracks and they were having all kinds of traction problems wiith the track. on saturday noone except the awd dsm guys were hooking up. so i think well be seing some better times from shep

 UMMM would you like to elaborate on that comment for every person whos read your post?

Heck I would really love to read you elaboration as I'm finding it hard to grasp you're concept.
Its honestly hard for everyone here to understand that you are this stupid. This has to be the third email I have gotten on this thread. So let me be clear for you. RT has NO effect on your ET. You can stay at the light for 10 mins as was said and this will have NO effect on your ET. The clock DOES NOT start until you cross the line. Do I have to put it any more simply?

But just in case you missed the memo I will post this link for you.

ET is calculated ONLY on the time you cross the starting line to the time you cross the finishing line.

If you run 12.0 and had a R/T of .100 (with .000 being perfect) you would not have run 11.9 if you had a perfect R/T. R/T is not deducted from the ET or added on to it.

If John sat on the line for 10 mintues after the lights drop he could still run an 8 second pass because the time calculated on his 1/4 time only starts after he trips the starting beem and trips the ending beem. Thats it.

There is no argueing this, this IS how it works there is no other discussion to even have here Period.

When your racing an oponent now, your R/T counts if your going to beat them or not in a drag race. If you run 12.0 with a .100 light and the other guy runs 12.0 with a .000 light, the guy with the faster light wins all else being equil, they both however ran 12.0 exactly.

Exactly, no more posts on the subject please. I think all the wiseman got the point across.

Shep, You gonna be at Norwalk aug 11-14th??

Hopefully you dont have any national events to go to and u can come down and give us guys a great show. :thumb: :talon:

Hey Shep, i live in Bristol and saw you at NOPI. That 8.55 run was a sweet ass run. I was shocked that i saw that in person. I didnt find out it was you until way later that night, i wish i would have known sooner i would have loved to have shot the shit with you.

First off rdrkt, don't ever call me stupid, EVER!!, such behavior and slander from a wiseman shouldn't be tolerated at all, especially from a wiseman. Its like me calling you stupid for not knowing how to block a yawyen ax kick to the knee, or a mountain storm to the collare bone. I deleted my post because after review, I had not truly explained my initial post.

I don't drag pro so I'm used to racing heads up or even bracket racing, so to me my r/t does affect my overall accomplishments. But then I realized after the fact that unless your compeating against someone the r/t will infact not play a factoring role.

Thank you DsmJim for beating me to the punch and explaining that little piece of info.

I don't want anyone to think I'm downing Shep ,at all , I'm just inspiered with him and extream as to how far they've taken the awd 4g63 platform into the record books.

Hell, the next time John Sheppard is up in Toronto Canada I'll make sure to buy him a beverage and ask him what little tricks have worked for him over the years, but then again he'll probably be to busy chatting it up with Marco about the dogmission.

Regardless of that ,great run J.Shep and I cant wait to see you break down your own record sometime in the near future.

rdrkt take a step back and chill,no need to pop a blood vein over a mistake, by the way thank you for posting the drag racing for dummies link, it actually does have some good info.

Again thanks for clearing that little misshap of unfiltered information, but mistakes do happen I'm just man enough to admit it.

P.s again great run J.Shep :thumb:

John,

I was down on the track in St Louis shooting this year and I got some decent pics of your car. I think one or two of them are here

www.siimports.com/NOPI/

I have more and if you want them just let me know and I'll email you a link to full sized copies for you to download. I'm going to probably be at memphis and at the shootout so I'll get more pics.

BTW the car is looking REALLY GOOD! Gratz on the new record.
