4ws still functional?

Apparently from talk with the GVR4 board guys, there was a GVR4 model in Asia that was auto/awd in 89-90. but all 3000 USDM GVR4's are manual trans.

4WS is gone completely. Manual steering rack and 1G talon 4bolt 3.307 ratio rear diff w/ DSS "unbreakable" axles.

My bet is that we have motivated a few of the other fast GVR4's and next season will hopefully be competitive and the record will change hands a few times back and forth. If not, we plan to push it to the 8's regardless of what anyone else does. If someone beats us right away, that just means we have to come out swinging harder and faster.

Wow..congrats guys! Was it a hard conversion Nate?

Auto conversion is completely bolt in, there is nothing custom or hard about it. It's easiest if you get a awd automatic 1g for parts , then you have all the bolts, brackets and wiring clips. We use an aftermarket shift box and rpm timer to make the upshifts, so none of the oem trans wiring harness or TCU computer are used.

I think Nelson actually left the manual pedal assembly, clutch master cyl in place in case he wanted to go back to a manual trans someday. (dead weight). The shifter and cable go through an oem hole. Nothing had to be cut.

Those wheels are almost as impressive as the 9.3 ET. 6.0 1/8 is movin. Congrats!

Im confused! I HATE those wheels! heavy, skinny, and look like they came from a 1986 pontiac grand am. I want to see the car on Volks or Welds next year, but I don't think Nelson is going to like anything but those old schoolers. Bleck.

Ehh...all three of my failures this year with nitrous were mechanical sourced, not in the tuning. I had a plugged fuel jet within the direct port system, unfortunately I didn't find it until it was too late to fix the car and make a pass with the system working.

Im not sure how we would run a nitrous setup on this car. I don't think we can do a dry hit, since we are currently running FIC 2150cc injectors and they are completely maxed out at 99% duty cycle on E85 @ 50psi fuel pressure and 11.8-12.0 AFR (gas scale wideband). We would have to run a wet nitrous setup, so I'd guess it would be direct port.
