I can pick up a 7cm exhaust housing fairly cheaply. I was just wondering how well this would work on a 14b. I know it is usually used on the 16g, but will there be any noticeable difference on a 14b compared to a 6cm turbine housing.

There will be a little more lag than normal..for a 14b with a 7cm housing put on it..

It will work and you will get more lag in the low end but more top end power but remember it is a 14B!!!

just my $.02

Turbo

I have this exact setup on my car, I noticed no difference at all. I just feel better knowing its bigger.

I saw 400 rpm more lag. The topend difference between a 6cm and 7cm housing was barely noticeable to me, I only noticed the lag increase.

I saw a big difference. I was getting close to 2000hz (volume flow) with the upgrade to the stock 14b. Before I was getting about 1800hz peak. Yes, it will be laggy. But the 14b has a 34lb/min compressor map. It's an easy upgrade to give you the flow to make the most out of your stock turbo. You'll have a VERY hard time reaching the potential with the stock 6m^2 turbine housing. A 14g compressor wheel is a better match to the 6cm^2 tdo5h turbine, IMHO. You need more boost to overcome the turbine flow. And thus you need a more efficiency compressor at that higher boost to negate the otherwise much higher work the turbine has to do to spin a small compressor wheel like a 14* to that such high enough boost.

i know this is an old post but there was alot of questioning about it, and i saw other threads saying it doesn't fit. i bought an aftermarket reproduction of the 7cm housing off of the evo 3 big 16g, also a ported version, i also bought a repro 2g manifold. i ported the manifold myself. it all took about 35 minutes to install both peices and everything worked. i noticed a big difference in midrange and top end. the turbo doesnt seem to fall off like it used to at higher rpms. it holds strong to redline. i am running about 11-12 psi. i ported the wastegate openning and get no boost creep with all 3" exhaust. i get full boost at about 2800 rpms. yes this all was done with a rebuilt 14b.
