Nope- that's a 7cm housing compared to a 5cm housing. You can even see "050" cast into the housing on the right.

Wrong again. This is again a 5cm housing (with the offset inlet) compared to a ported 7cm turbine housing.

Same principle when comparing 6cm and 7cm housings, just slightly less-exaggerated.

I realize this was a very old thread, but the info is still valid. Austin was not actually the original reviver- there was a deleted post from another archive-surfer.

Its funny I linked this thread earlier today as a reference and now people are posting in it LOL.

Here is an accurate 6cm/7cm comparison pic I took myself of the o2 housing side (both stock and not ported)

And one of the inlet side of both turbine housings

Mind you that my 7cm housing was gasket matched ported with the fire ring shoulder removed. The angle of this pic is deceiving cause the 7cm housing is about an inch closer to the camera making it look huge compared to the 6cm housing.

The 1st picture is a comparision of a 7 cm and a 5 cm tdo4L 13g. This is not a fair comparision. The rest of the pictures are accurate.

By the way good catch. I didn't even notice that myself.

Thats not just a 7 cm, thats an evo3, big difference. Also not all 7 cms have that larger inlet. I picked up a 7 cm that was on a small 16g that has the 6cm inlet size. It was a completely different casting and larger at the bottom than a 6 or normal 7 cm. its like a wierd cross breed. Also that picture of the different housing has been up on vfaq.com for years.

You are correct my turbine housing is off a genuine MHI Evo3 16g. I've been told for years that the small 16g comes with a 6cm turbine housing and that the big and evo 16g's were the ones that came with the 7cm housings. iirc when I bought a small 16g like 8 or 9 years ago there was an upgrade option for the 7cm turbine housing for like an extra $200. Its been a while so don't quote me on that LOL.

All the small 16gs i have owned came with a 7 cm.

My small 16g has a 6cm housing on it..I know cause I put it up against my evo 3 knockoff..And just realized today that it was a 6cm housing..

I know my old small 16g had a 6cm housing as well and I bought it brand new from a dsm parts vendor. Maybe this was the case years ago and now they have moved on to the 7cm housings on the newer small 16g's?

All 16G's now come with 7cm turbine housings. The Evo III 16G comes with a lighter, higher-nickel housing with a larger outlet than a standard 7cm turbine housing. The inlet spec is the same- 60mm.

I bought my small 16g 3 or more years ago..And It was purchased before that..So maybe the new ones do come with 7cm housings..
