I want to apologize for the thread in advance. I have searched and searched..I took my head off and put it all back together and It the starter motor is running and cams are turning but it wont fire up. I took the wire off cyl 1 and attached a plug to it and when it was starting it sounded like a back fire. and it smells like gas after and plugs have a light coating of fuel. No leaks..Help? please!

Cam angle sensor part 8the part that bolts into the cam..not the sensor it self is missing?)

or Crank angle sesor plug not installed, mixed up with a-c plug/ Crank trigger plate not on/backwards etc.

those are some of the little things that people tend to forget while rebuilding an engine /to excited to get it running

Ive seen that happend many times before.

edit: if youve only done headwork.. is the timing up 100%ß a buddy did the same,no start, timing was off (car would start, backfire, then die)

Ok, Checked timing and its at TDC, how do make sure the Camshaft Angle Sensor is lined up? I appreciate all the help. I hate the car now.ds

DONT HATE THE CAR!!!! I had the EXACT 100% thing happen, CAS was bad, it wanted to start so bad but just didnt fire no matter what direction i had it, no matter how i had the plug order. Slapped my buddies CAS in, and BAM 2 seconds of cranking and she fired up.

I think we all come to the conclusion its a bad CAS.:thumb:

OK...Time was off. I was wrong. Tested CAS and its good. Please forgive. Second DSM..still learning. Can y'all look at these pictures and make sure it looks right please?
I forgot to mention that Intake Cam was 180 degrees off. Pin was at bottom while EXH Cam pin was at top.
