Will a stock stock 7 bolt bottom end be able to handle a gt30r at 20 psi ? I plan on getting fp2 cams and a manley spring/retainer set but keeping the bottom end stock for now ?

If its tuned properly. Power doesn't kill motors, detonation and improper tuning does

I second that. I've personally seen a stock 7 bolt long block make 423 awhp on a FP3055 without any problems. He did eventually window the block with a shot of gas. Still don't know why he put that shot on there.

lets say that if i get forged pistons and rods, will it be able to handle alot more power then ? I heard somewhere that 7 bolts, even when built, cant handle too much power .

Thats not true. People mostly shy away from 7bolts because of the dreaded crank walk.
If you build your bottom end, yes you will be able to hand alot more power.

Magnusmotorsports.com read that, they also have a few very high hp 7 bolts withou signs of crankwalk due to there new theory.

My mechanic mainly only builds 7 bolt strokers. He said you cant rev past 7500rpm on the 6bolt because it has a weak spot on the crank. He takes his 7 bolt strokers to 8500 and offers lifetime warranty against crank walk.

First thing I asked him "why do you make only 7 bolts now". Because to most thats just crazy. He pulled down a 7 bolt crank and a 6 bolt and showed me the weak spot on the 6 bolt where he said he has seen strokers fail at high rev. I then said but what about crank walk. He said "I offer lifetime warranty against it". We where like awsome.

So my buddy is dropping a 7 bolt into his GVR4. Thats got to be the first. But it will beable to rev to 8500 and with the tranny and clutch he is getting it should have flawless shifting that high, which is hard to do.

There are many 7 bolt bottom end 2Gs on here making close to 400WHP, GreddyGST, CanadianTSi and GSTRacer_99 to name a few. If you 7 bolt walks, get a 6bolt or get another 7 bolt. Crankwalk is old, and in my opinion overrated. Lets not turn this into another crankwalk thread, there are many many many on here already.

I think most cars that were going to walk already have.

I agree. Most of the cars that were screwed from the factory have already walked. I believe that Magnus has got the problem pinned anyway. Their theory makes perfect sense.

Its actually a buddy of mine getting this motor. Jack in Colorado Springs is building a 7 bolt 2.3 stroker, forged internals. Rebuilt head and tranny. Tranny with double synchroed 1st and second, 4 spider gear, torington bearing.

My buddy bought dks 280/280 cams, crower valves and ferrea stainless valves. All this for 4500-5000 depending on pricing of parts. This comes with the warranty. This price does not include the head upgrades. This price also includes all labor dropping it into the car.

Here is the website of the guy building this motor.

I have a GT30R @ 25psi on stock 7bolt motor, no problems at all. If is tune correctly and you have a good working motor then you'll be fine. Also gotta have all the supporting mods

Ok so it looks like ill get a gt30r then. How do you(or anyone else with this turbo) like it ? Hows the spool on it ? Overall, just tell me you impressions with the turbo. Thanks

I really enjoy the turbo and I speak from experience. Daily driven with no problem except the ACT2600 is pretty stiff but I got used to it LOL. The only internal mod I had was HKS 272 cams and it helped my spool up time, Spool around 3800 and be at full boost 25psi around 4300. Pulls so hard :thumb: I did like it. I now have a GT35R but that setup is going on a stroker 2.3L

I kinda disagree, since Jake "TopStreet" has a 6bolt stroker and revs it to 9600rpms

A weak spot on a crank?7 bolt cranks arent nitride coated,6 bolts are. That makes the 6 bolts a lot stronger.I just find it hard to believe that since most dsm shops use 6 bolts in anything they do.
