2G 7 bolt rear main seal question

So towards the end of the week I'm going to be doing a clutch job on my 97 awd 7 bolt car. I have the rear main seal, my question is: do I just carefully pry the old one out and put the new one in dry or do I have to put rtv sealant on the back side of the seal? Also if anyone has any tips on the clutch job, feel free to add those in

You can put rtv around the outside of the seal, if you'd like. But it isn't necessary. As far as advice goes, take your time. Take pictures if you think you may have trouble remembering where things go. And that trans if heavy. It's nice to have a friend help you lift it in and out.

Just swap them out, sounds easy enough for me haha. Thanks for the advice
