Rear main seal fix..?

hey guys im looking at buing a 93 talon tsi from a guy the motor was rebuilt but his rear main seal is leaking... hes asking a good price for it but I am wondering what all is involved in replacing the seal? thankyou I would like to know step by step so if i buy it i can fix it right away and drive it as it will be my daily

Simple fix remove tranny and its there to see plus grab a manual to go ahead to deal with him, its a 25 dollar part or so.

Transmission/t-case
axles
clutch/flywheel or flex plate if you're auto
down pipe
and oil pan.

Once everything is off, then your seal will be visible. 5 10mm bolts hold the "housing" on. Just use a screw driver and remove the old seal and tap the new one in. New gasket and bolt it back in and reassemble everything. Its a pretty lengthy job for just a seal.

For someone mechanically inclined or been working on these things for a while could probably have it done in 4-6 hours.. Somebody fairly new and first timer probably should set aside a weekend or more.
