Got some bad, sad news...
My 95' GSX started knocking due to bad rod bearings...
Might as well build the internals now.
I'll take a look at the pistons and crankshaft and see if they are still fine and i'll keep them in there (since they only have 17k on them) but everything else will be replaced with stronger parts.
Parts of interest:
(?Eagle/Scat/K1?) Rods,
Weisco 1400HD Pistons?,
ACL Rod & Main Bearings,
ARP Headstuds,
Cometic 1.6mm Headgasket,
TopLine full gasket set,
Gates Racing Timing Belt,
Avid Racing Billet Motor Mounts
Meth inj ket,
DSM-Link,
Evo III Big 16G Turbo,
FP Turbo Manifold?,
Balance Shaft Delete,
and still doing research, ect...
I probably wont even begin purchasing parts until i get my Corona reliable to daily drive.
Now I have a lot of questions about building up my motor since i have never done it before. Can i put the Eagle Rods and Weisco 1400HD Pistons on my oem 7-bolt crank and cylinder? And if i can, is there anything else i'm suppose to mod/buy to get it running fine? I understand it will need a new tune, but what else MUST I HAVE in order to run these parts in my motor. I will be running an oem head but with 3g Lifters, and i will also do a Balance Shaft Delete.
And will the rods fit the ACL Race "Tri-Metal" Rod & Main Bearings, or must i get something else?
My oem 7-bolt short block got rod knock (ran it on low oil) and it only has about 17k on it, so im guessing my crank will be fine. Right?
I just want to build up my motor since I'm hoping to reach the 500-600 awhp range someday.
When i did research on buying parts, there are different rods, rod bearings, and pistons with different sizes, and im wondering how it could affect the timing, and distance the piston moves?
If someone could explain this to me, i would greatly appreciate it! Thank You!
Also, opinions and help on parts selection is greatly appreciated!
I was looking at this package for Eagle Rods and Weisco Pistons:
