What was used for filler on the bell? Why does it look like bondo?

yes, that is bondo, after the skeliton is built from aluminum, bondo is used to get the proper wall thickness in all the various areas

Really?, Not that im doubting you, but i dont see that holding up for one pull. There was alot of aluminum cut out of some important structural areas. Replacing cast aluminum with bondo doesnt seem right to me.

I have no personal experience with this matter though.

It was a pattern. As in he then set the one with a mix of aluminum and bondo out to be used to make a mold. From there they cast aluminum in it. No bondo on the part that will be used on the car.

Holy jebus, how'd i miss that. WTF

Come on Stocker... your smarter than that. Long day? LOL

Yes very LOL. Does pneumonia count as a legit excuse? If so im using that one haha. Yea that sounds good, im claiming cerebral hypoxia :D

yeah, the pattern creates a cavity in a sand cast, then the pattern is removed and 6061 aluminum is poured in the cavity

these are core boxes that hold the sand cavity while the aluminum is poured, after the aluminum cools, the core box is broken away

then the aluminum is treated to a T 5 hardness

the pattern is never used in the car, its used over and over again to create the cavity in the casting sand

Beautiful shop. Beautiful housings as well. Rwd 6g swap sounds like a fun project. Looks like you plan on selling a few of those beauties?

Nice shot. :hellyeah:

Theres a local guy by the name of John ...(another brain fart moment) that runs speedway bikes. Hes ran in ohio quite a bit. Ran nationals and the whole deal.

I think its been a couple years now since they ran the bikes in vassar though. Last thing they raced over there was probably some harness racing.

Small world though, i didnt think anyones ever heard of this place haha.

there was a sheet metal fence around the curves of the track, some guy missed the groove and got stuck under it >;o))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))) those were the days
It was a real loose fine dust track, no banking, I didnt like it very much

On the German DSM forum, someone swap the 6G72 in a 1G. He's pretty impress by the results.

that is really awesome. To bad you didnt do it for the T56 Trans though :(
i know in drag you guys like the autos and stuff. but a 6 speed that is readily available woulda been cool.

There is a bellhousing out there that bolts a t56 o a 4g63.

i was talking about the 6g7X engine

i think he is BS'ing though, that looks like the 6g72 from a 3rd gen eclipse, which actually is better, if its a GT motor it would have 210hp.
Its alot easier then you would think to drop a 6g73 or 6g72 in an eclipse....

the Dodge Avegner 96-2000 is based of the eclipse, same engine bay and suspension and interior for the most part. really the roof and b pillar back is the only real difference.

So gut an Avenger and drop in a Eclipse... not to hard. Many Avenger guys used to swap the GSX drive train in their Avengers. and most do toss their 6g73 for a 6g72. I dont see why anyone would want a 6g72 around here, everyone in the avenger forms toss them due to the extreme lack of products out there, and they are pretty weak engines. i would know, i have owned 3 6g73 avengers, am a mod on the avenger forum (ASEC) and a own TSI Talon

swapping a 6g73 into a eclipse = complete waste of time in basically every ASEC member's eyes :)
