7-bolts dont necessarily have weaker rods there just lighter(which in turn means weaker). They have smaller ports but dont think they make less power.
Not much of a difference just that a 6 bolt takes 6bolt to bolt the flywheel to the crank and the 7 bolt takes 7 bolts. Also the 6 bolt 90-92.5 has 7.8-1 compression with stronger rods, and the 7 bolt 95-99 has 8.5-1 compression and weaker rods. Also the 6 bolt has bigger ports on the head then the 7 bolt.
No man not saying less power just comparing!

1g's have 7.8:1, 2g has 8.5:1 this is not a 6b 7b change. There are a lot of threads on here about this and VFAQ.com has a wealth of knowledge.

so according to all specs that i have seen about my car, i have approx a 9:1 comp ratio. i will soon be putting a turbo and dohc from a talon tsi onto my 4g64. since you all are more mitsu and dsm then others that i have asked, i was wondering if you knew how much boost i can run on my stock internals. ive been told between 7 and 15lbs.
also i have read about 6bolt and 7bolt 4g64. with out tearing my engine out, how do i find out.
6bolt rods have taken more torque and horsepower than 7bolt rods.
Which is why i restated that the rods were weaker.
