Well ... I tried running the new 60-1 with my 660's on pump gas before putting the car away for the winter ... couldnt run more than 17-18 psi without running out of fuel, my fuel trims weren't setup correctly and I could only pull off 325whp with no knock (342whp @ 19 psi with AFR's climbing into the low 13's: 1) ... i'm wondering if those of you WITH 60-1 or similar sized turbos could offer some food for thought as to which injectors I should go with ... Im considering FIC 850's, but could I get away with 750's??? Id like to run up to 22 psi on pump and 30 psi max on C16 ....

My understanding is that on pump gas, more so than race gas, injectors that are too small show their true colours (ie max out). Can someone give me an idea of what kind of boost I will be able to run on pump and race gas with larger injectors (say 750 vs 850's) and perhaps provide some insight into why it is that running high boost on pump gas requires larger injectors.

Thanks in advance,

Wes

Because you have to use more fuel to stay away from knock on pump gas as opposed to race gas at the same airflow level. A 60-1 is a large turbo and you have DSMlink, screw it and get some 950's and never have to worry again about fuel. Until you start outrunning the 255 wally.

I have a 60-1 and run FIC 850s and i have ran 20psi on pump. Havent dumped race gas or anything yet but I think im far from maxin the 850s out.

yep just get 850s or hell 950s like the guy above me said just go big and never worry bout injectors again.

hey talonpower. First of all , did u rewire the fuel pump. If not, u need to do that first. I have a friend that got a 57 trim and he runnin 750cc inj with a rewire pump. And he was able to run close to 29lbs on pump gas. I say go ahead and get a set of 880cc or something bigger. Because with the dsmlink u can make 1000cc flow at the base setting or higher. Thanks oj :D

Alright cool, now ill just have to find myself some nice 850 or 950's

For a couple bucks more, you might as well go one more step higher and get the 1000cc injectors. The last time I looked at FIC's webpage, they weren't listed. Call Frank at FIC...they have em.

tuning and a jestrtuning.com stage 3 chip. made to your spec. thanks oj :D

WTF is a jestrtuning.com stage 3 chip and what all is in the Stage 3 chip since that site doesn't list a single thing that they actually do to "modify" the chip. Plus, modding an Eprom chip doesn't help you run more boost on pump gas.

Just go on the website and email john. And tell u are interested in a stage 3 chip. And he will give u all the details about it. Trust me u will be happy. He also reflashes ecu too. He is the man. Thanks oj :thumb:

a 1000 is over kill. IMO 8xx are overkill. PLus they wont idle right without some sort of chip, dsmlink etc. He will get to much timing advance with them if he's running a stock ecu. I suggest something in the 7xx range. Should be enough for pump, and ofcourse plenty when the race gas comes in.

Yes they are probably overkill but a 60-1 is a large turbo. If he starts to want to push the limits of it he'll need plenty of fuel. I messed up by skimping the first time on my fuel system and now I'm having to replace it all. If he goes big the first time he's covered for good. He already has DSMlink so your argument makes no sense.

It depends on what engine management you are running. With a AEM or a Haltech E6X 720cc to 850cc will be plenty. If you are running batch fire on a Haltech E6K you will need 1000cc-1100cc. I wouldn't recommend running more than 26psi on stock ecu. too much timing advancement
