Is it better to take out timing and run high boost or lower boost and more timing. I'm running 60-1(gt13), dsmlink with 272/272+++ at 22psi on 94 octane and flow 42.5lb/min top of 4th. I pulled timing back around 2-3 deg 4500rpm-70000. I get .7-1 deg of knock(retard), top of 4th 14.6 deg/tim. Should I reduce the boost and add timing?? The car makes about the same power but the HP curve is a lot smoother with -3deg of timing pulled..Everything seems to work great but I need more power.

yeah exactly what im doing on my RS60T 60-1 cept i have crap gas 91 and i have to take out 5 degrees and i see about the same airflow with my FP2 272s @ 22psi.... May i ask how you ran that 11.9 @ 119mph !!! i have similar mods and similar airflows but my best time so far is a 12.5 @ 112mph @ 22-23psi..

Anytime you have "spikes" or uneven HP curve on a dyno, your motor is knocking.... that would probably explain why you have a "smoother" HP curve with less timing....

His 11.9 was on the old Mutt 50 trim and an AFC. Not the new GT-13.
wow thats awesome... now i feel completely retarded with a bigger turbo at slower times :( ...

With a setup that flows that much up top I would start with more pressure and less timing. If it was a t25 or something small like that I'd start with less boost and more timing because it just starts to run out of breath up top.

I don't know what I'm talking about though so take that for what it's worth. :thumb:

I'm in the same boat as you Paul ... 60-1 and not quite sure whether to go with more boost and less timing or more timing and less boost. 14 deg up top seems a little low ... what comp pistons are you running? Im running ross 9:1's which arent *supposed* to see more than 18 deg on pump gas ..
