Hi guys, someone who has the 60-1 or 62-1 with stage 3 turbine can tell about the spool on this turbo?

i going to run t3(stage3)/62-1 with lots of supporting mods but on the stock engine... whould like to know what will be the spool? and what time on 402 should i waiting for with about 25psi of boost?

Steve hit it right on the head with the comment about the turbine wheel. I think you need to look into a smaller compressor or up the turbine size.

What kind of power and use are you really going for? What made you come to the decision you stated above?

i'd like to run 11s and at the same time i'm rebulding my present turbo... so i decide to put bigger compressor wheel. Why t31(stage 3) turbine is too small for that wheel? .. i saw plenty of turbochargers form different vendors in the combination t31(stage 3)/T04E 60-1

30 psi by 5k with P-trim is not so bad, with stage3 it should be earlier i guess, wright?

That's because there are lots of suckers (I was one) who think compressor flow will give them the hp they want and neglect to look at the turbine flow. They assume that they can ahve the best fo both world. Great spool from small t3 stage 3 and then have big flow because the 60-1 can deliver 60-lbs/min when demanded. . .

There is no need to slow your spool w/ a bigger compressor wheel when your turbine won't flow much more than what a 50-trim can deliver.

If you can't get the air out (small turbine and turbine housing), then you can't get more new air in (big compressor). I ran a 60-1 w/ a t3 stage 3 turbine and recently I blew the turbo trying to get her to perform at the level the wheel is capable of performing. The T3 stage 5 is problably OK for a 60-1 compressor. I think it's too small for the 56 trim (scm61). The scm61 is hard pressed to get to 600hp though the compressor is the gt35r compressor. This is because of the turbine.

Really a p trim is ideal for the 60-1, 62-1, 56 trim, or a little bigger. But, a t3 stage 5 (t350) is probably excellent for the 60-1. Both the compressor and turbine flow about the same. The t3 stage5 should hit 30 psi by 4500 rpms. I got 30 psi by 4K w/ my 60-1 and t3 stage 3. And, they both fall w/in the 10% rule: the diametes are w/in 10% of each other. Get a .63 a/r turbine housing. A .55 a/r BEP housing is NOT enough for the t3 stage5 turbine.

I have a .63 turbine PTE scm 6176 56trim with the large 76mm compressor wheel and I start to spool at 3500 and get full spool around 4300rpms on my built 2.4 motor. With my old stock 7bolt 2 liter engine it wouldn't start to spool until 4200 or so and reached full boost around 5k. I have the journal bearing version and the research I've done suggests that transient response and durability would be much better with a ball bearing model. My turbo just died on me with only 2k miles on it. If I had it to do over again I would have spent the extra money and purchased a nice T3 or T4 equal length manifold and a ball bearing turbo of similar size and gone external gate for better boost control. The scm61 responds like an on/off switch. The car feels gutless until 3500rpms and then all of a sudden Whoooosh! hang on to your panties. Especially over 24psi this turbo really starts to pull incredibly hard, but transient response with the journal bearing model sucks. A .83 T3 compressor housing, or .68 divided T4 should give lots of top end with relatively quick spool. A divided turbine housing and exhaust manifold should help spool time as well.
