Every week im getting close to get all the parts together for my setup. I got a ported turbonetics manifold and precission fuel injectors 880cc, this week.
already have intercooler, i/c pipes, fuel pump, fuel regulator, maft translator, boost controler, oil lines, the only thing left is the Turbo and DSMlink witch im going to buy it in the next 2 weeks. a friend of mine is selling me a 57trim T3/TO4E big shaft stge 3 turbo, some people on this forun recomended me either a 50trim or a 60 trim cus 57 trim is not a good setup for my goals.

I realy want to know the differance in performance betwwen a 60trim and a 60-1, turbo lag comparison and efficiency.

again, my goals are 325-350hp on a stock 7bolt longblock at the least amount of boost possible (maybe 18-21psi) later with a rebuilt head and cams 400whp and later on next year with a built block 500whp on race gas and lots of boost.

Haha your from PR eh? thats funny. Anyway to answer your question i think a 50trim would end up being the better turbo choice for you. Spools great for the street and can give you more than 400+hp when your ready. After you get the built motor and what not sell the turbo and get something bigger. I have a bb 57trim and its a great turbo even though most people skip it because its essentially a 50trim with a bigger turbine wheel. The 57trim will meet your goals but the 50trim is more efficient.

I have a Turbonetics 60 trim. Not too laggy on the street and pulls like a monster up top. It does seem to be at home at 19pounds and up and anything less is almost pointless. I was initially looking at the bb 57 trim but went with the 60 trim when the 57 was on back order, i'm more then happy though.

Like raven said, a 50trim would meet your goals but the 60 trim and 60-1 have much greater potential if your looking to go big later on down the road.

Haha Jean its funny because am from PR;) Mayaguez to be exact. Am in school for college here in FL though but i was born and raised there:). Byrd glad you went with the 60trim don't know if you have read any of my posts but I have the bb 57trim and its surging past 23+psi. No one wants to help so ive taken the matters into my own hands. Going to have a turbo specialist make me a custom t04e anti surge housing will post results on that later.

Yes Raven i actually read all your posts about the bb 57 trim haha I also wanted to go a little bigger cause i have plans of going to a 2.4L. They are both good turbos either way.

ooh, I studied 2 years in mayaguez, im from yabucoa on the east, street racing is pretty wild over there, i dont practice it anymore i really like better dyno tuning and getting good results, i think im going to be a dyno queen. ( a friend of mine is a dyno center owner and i have free dyno run)

so if my goals are later running over 26psi,
57trim is not for me right?

If you want to run over 26 psi and you are only looking at those three turbo's (60 trim, 60-1, 57 trim). Go with the 60-1. If you don't mind going a little bigger, look into a ball bearing SC61 or equivalent.

STOPPPPP!!!!!!!OMG

Frist and formost trim is not a idication of turbo size. Trim is a ratio that is used to describe wheels. I have a gt14 which is a 56 trim turbo that is DEF bigger than a 60 trim. You my friend need to do some research on turbos and figure out what you really want. for a 400 and maybe a future 500whp level setup you shoudl not be lookin at anything smaller than a 50trim(this and the 60 trim probably the only turbo's that get referenced by trim) such as the FP green PTE50 G50 ect. I think the biggest you should look at if this is your dd is a gt35r( wether or notyou go bolt on or t3 is up to you and i take it you already made that descison cause you already bout a aftermarket manifold).

FP green
Fp Red(60-1)
gt13(duall BB 60-1)
PTE 50trim
PTE's new dual bb 50 trim or 60-1
AGP r65t(similar to scm61)
SCM 61(61mm 56 trim i believe)
gt14(61mm 56 trim same chra as the FP 3065 duall bb)I'm bais to this for SOME reason :sneaky:
FP3065(duall BB)
gt35r(Duall bb and probably one of the best turbos all aroudn on the list)

There are other turbos in between and better but tose are just some comon ones. All of them can make 500whp on race gas but it gets harder with the 50 trim and of course easier with the gt35r and such.
