With the proper tuning at 20 psi a 60-1 will make more power than a 50-trim, a 16G, whatever you want to compare it to that's smaller than. It's not in it's best efficiency window, but it's still moving a crapload more air and power than a smaller turbo.

Yes, It moves a crapload of air, but without being in its efficiency range, that air is useless. Thats like saying a 50trim at 20 psi makes the same power as a 14b at 20psi. You either dont reach the efficiency range or exceed it and what you get outside that range is either hot air or air with no velocity.

Best example I can give is I have a friend with a 50 trim and I have a 60-1. It is proven that with both of us equal and at 20 psi, he walks all over me. Now, when we step it up to 25 psi, I will pull him by a carlength when on pump gas. Now we go to race gas and 28psi, he hes no chance. So, if his 50 will make less power than my 60-1 at 20 psi, why does he pull past me? You can read all you want and think whatever you want but I know first hand what the difference is. My honest opinion is that you havent ever run a 60-1 so what you think has nothing to do with this post.

of course a larger turbo will flow more cfm than a smaller one at a given pressure, but are you saying that a 16g pushing 23psi @3700 will be flowing less cfm than a 60-1 at whatever low boost it will be at at the same rpm?

i run a 60-1 on my 2G stock engine(cams stock to), plenty of fuel, tune with link. I can't get past 20-21 psi without running into tons of knock on the crap 91 or 92 we have here. Ive got my timing pulled -4* at full boost to keep knock under 3 degrees retard. At 20 psi it's flowing around 38-39lbs/min.

How is everyone fighting off knock?? Im going to throw water/meth injection on pretty soon here in hopes of less knock and more timing.

60-1 is not really a pump gas turbo IMO. You're probably better off with a 50 trim to be honest. I've had both turbos, and the 50 trim pulled much harder at 21psi on pump. I just got done tuning my 60-1 to 25psi on pump with zero knock. Im not even using dsm link yet. I just did it with a wideband and playing with the base timing. I also use a keydiver chip (which I've never liked from day 1) to view knock on my factory boost gauge. I know its a shitty way of tuning, I'm lazy and I hate busting out the laptop to datalog, LOL.

But for those who dont or cant run more than 20psi, dont buy a 60-1. Its meant for big boost only.

A "crapload of air" means nothing at inefficient boost levels. I'm pretty positive you would give me a good run if you and I raced if I were at 20psi. That is, if you're on a 16g. Just because the turbo is small, doesn't mean it cant be fast.

I am building my car over the winter and I'm wondering what kind of power am i going to see,so I'm asking other dsmers that are running 60-1S for there input. Also what kind of spool up am i going to see and how much would i make? I only planing on running max 25 psi. Is this a good set up or am i going to have to change some things Thanks guys any info would be great

I think we got off track a little bit. I would like to give you the answer to your question. IMO, this is not a good setup for a 60-1. You can do 25psi easily on pump gas all day long. I would do it on a 50 trim. With 8.8:1 pistons, you're probably going to have a hard time tuning a turbo that isn't meant for pump gas, such as a 60-1. 50 trim is the pump gas king. This setup should be good for high 11's.

And when you start boosting 25psi, you'll want to do 30psi in a matter of hours. When you get your car together, you'll know what I'm talkin about. ;)

went to the track. I ran a 25.3@44mph. 60-1 sucks!

I seriously did run a 25.3 tho, I blew the turbo at the 60ft, vacuum line or something sucked into the blades. I love dsms.

Sorry, but it sounds like this was user error. Your the one that allowed your turbo to suck shit into the blades.

ok im trying to post a log but tuners doesn't allow me to post up a .dat DSMLink log file. I can't figure out how to rename its extension to .doc I have no server to host it on....

Really? You dont say. Thanks for the smart a$$ remarks and pointing out the obvious. I was being sarcastic. Shit happens, its no big deal, ill just fix it later.

Actually, it wasn't user error. It was ninjas.
