Hey you guys I have been searching around and looking at larger turbos to replace with my EVO but can not make my mind up can I get everyones thoughts and opinions. I have a budget to get a GT30r but not wanting to spend that much. I have been looking in 60-1 but with me lacking the knowledge of larger size turbo's its hard to decide. I am not worry to much on the turbo lag as long as its not like 5K before the turbo is coming in (you have to give a little to get a little). I am also looking to run around 20-22 PSI and this would be a DD for me. Running pump gas I am looking for numbers 350-400 and race gas + increased boost who knows say over 400 of course. I am really looking to bolting it to my 2g mani also w/o having to purchase another one so keep this in mind please.

Here are two turbo's I have looked at but not understanding the difference's in the stage 3 & 5 turbine wheel...does it mean one spools up quicker than the other? Can someone inform me on the difference's please what numbers I maybe looking at with these two?

Stage 5 turbine

Just got off the phone with Tom at SBR and he said that the stage 3 has a little faster spool time but less top end power. Where the stage 5 has more Hp potential and slower spool.

I just bought the pte 60-1 with the stage 3 wheel. Rated 580 hp. :sneaky:

I am stoked to get it.

A friend of mine has a 60-1 in his tsi awd. It spools full boost around 4100 and he takes it to 7500. It pulls real hard. I took his car for a ride but didn't boost in 3rd. It rides real strong and feels like a roller coster. DSMlink quoted him around 330awhp at 20psi. We havn't dynoed it or took it to the track with the 60-1 so I have no experience there. With cams i'm sure it will be a whole new beast too.

Now, my GST at 20psi with a t3/t4 is about as fast if not faster (from a roll) and we have all similar bolt-ons except he has a bult 6bolt and i still have the stock 7bolt. I only spool full boost about 200-300 rpms quicker than him. Basically our cars are the same mod wise right down to the clutch and we are probably netting similar horsepower. I thought i'd give you a comparison with what i've delt with.

Yea, it may be all to common, but the 50-trim (which I have) will do exactly what you are asking and spool a lot sooner that a 60-1.

The stg 5 (T350) turbine wheel is much larger than the stg 3 which will cause less exhaust restriction/more power in the higher RPMs but (due to it's size) take longer to spoolup :dsm:

Go with the Forced Perfromance Street Strip 20g.

I had it on my car for a while and I ran 11's all day at over 118mph, full weight 95GSX, stock motor and cams. Excellent turbo. I little pricey but I swear to you, once you slap it on you will be soooooo happy. Turbo spooled super quick (25psi@3600rpm) and I was making WELL over 400whp on race gas.

I need a turbo that i can smoke the new ZO6 covette on the freeway with. :thumb:

You brought back an 11 month old thread, to say that

You responded to an 11 month old thread to talk crap? :notgood: Funny thing about these forum thingy's, when you search a subject that relates to your point of interest, it shows previous threads. And since my question had already been answered in a previos post I didn't need to ask it.

Now go away. :tease:

I had a 60-1 .69 AR with a stage 3 wheel on my TSi. I had boost set to 25psi. I will say this invest in t-bolt clamps, because this turbo will eat silicon couplers :) Now that turbo is retired for a larger turbo.

When was it making full spool by? I have the same sattge 3hot side on a .63AR housing, but i run the 57 trim wheel. The guys at turbonetics said that because of the way teh 57 trim wheel's surge line runs that teh 60-1 would actually spool faster, but i'd have to see it to believe it.

im running a to4e 60-1 with a t4 p trim turbine. The p trim is alittle larger then the stage 5 t3, pretty much making the 60-1 the high output version like the t67 options on full race. Im on a 2.4, still a bolt on style turbine housing. 20psi by 3700, on 28psi it gets real hairy. 2nd gear the car likes to lane change and it starts to spin haha.

NICE. That sounds like one hell of a ride. My AWD is pretty hairy in first and second gear with only the stock 14b, but of course I'm running a 100 shot with it. Once I'm finished getting my GM Maf, the translator and my DSM Link all dialed in it'll be time to pick a turbo. So many options, so many cars to beat.

Well my buddy had it on his 2.4L Talon, and it was at full spool by 3800-4000. On my 2.0L it was at full spool around 4500ish ( maybe a little higher...its been almost a year since Ive even driven that DSM :(). It was slow spool till 10psi, then it just threw you back from 10-25 psi :D Broke em loose on the highway with the AWD before it eat the silicon coupler. But its having its place taken by a turbo that eats babies, and scrawny teenagers.
