I stole the 6x9s out of my brothers totalled 2000 Honda civic. They sound better than my stock Infinity stuff. hahaha Honda 15 watts for life.

I have never heard that statement before. I used to demo Polk v. Sony v. Infiniti and Sony never won... What in particular do you like? Do you often run the treble/bass/mid high? I am curious so I can better aim people with your particular taste towards the right product.

I was bored and swapped them to see if there was a difference. The Alpines are model #DDS-R69G at 150w peak, the Sony's are 180w and both brands are 2 way.

I planned on the Alpines sounding better too, but a couple of my freinds also thought the Sony's had better quality, but about the same bass. The bass is set at mid level and the treble is between mid and high.

Regardless I'm planning on selling the Sony's...if anyone will buy them, and my Kenwood 5 1/4", but I'm not sure what I'll get to replace them, maybe Polk??

Polk EX will deffinately work wonders for you. I love mine... If you have any fabricating skills, you can mount 6 1/2's in there, your best bet is a component set, it's a little pricey, but it will sound much better than the 6x9's.

If you like a natural, organic sound, then Polk is an awesome choice. I personally like the bright (treble) sound of the Infinity's (I usually have my treble set high). Has anyone tried the Audiobahn mid/tweets?

you might be able to look on the back and it should be there..... Or you could try the dealer. All I know is I took all the factory stuff out. All the wires/equipment. I ran 12 guage wire to all the speakers. It took a long time, but it was worth it.

damn is there a difference in stock speakers from the 95-96 and the 97-99.. i had a 98 gst then got a 95 gsx.. and the sound sucks compared to my 98 gst.. the speakers just dont bump as loud.. i was satisfied with the stock 98 gst system.. but the 95 needs some work..

im not planning to go all out with an amp and stuff.. i just want to change the speakers.. wat do u guys recommend as far as cheap that bumps pretty good.. to go with the stock everything else (inifinity amp, deck, etc)

I sugest you use Plok EX series speakers. If you can afford kick panels, you should get 2-way 6 1/2 for the doors and 6 1/2 components for the kick panels. you can also use 6 1/2 in the rear. If and only if you want 6x9's you should get an amp for those.\

Any problems installing new speakers with stock amplifier?

I have the Infinity with 200w amp under the seat. One of my rear speakers developed an annoying buzz. I browsed speakers at Best Buy but the kid on duty there told me I would likely have problems if I messed with the stock set-up. He recommended an OEM speaker from the dealer. Is he full of crap?

I took the speaker apart and put it back which eliminated the buzz, a condition that I’m sure is temporary. When it comes back, can I just put in a new pair of 6x9’s off the shelf? What power rating do I need?

the stock amp is like 3 watts to a speaker......
just take it out and youll do just as good with a decent Headunit...if it says 50x4 you get like 10x4 just as much as the infinity amp...

Hey man, if you put good speakers in and don't have enough juice to push them then they might get trashed. You can go over the power rating with speakers, but distortion is what kills them. You should upgrade your system.
