K so I have recently finished up my 8+ month 6 bolt swap into my 95' Talon. problem of course being that it wont start. I've already changed my ECMlink settings for the "non 95-96 cas" tab I've also done the non 95-96 park plug wires setup. some info on my setup if needed... i'm running ECMlink, i also have it setup to speed density. stock manifolds. it has a 2g coil pack, did the taboo vacuum line elimination, it has a green top cas on it with the JNZtuning adapter for the connector, 1g thermostat with the 2g coolant temp sensor swapped over.

at first attempt to start i wasn't getting much. i redid the spark plug wiring and still not much, i changed the setting in ECMlink for the cas and after that then it was really trying to start... i had to stop due to the battery draining, today i went back to mess with it with a fully charged battery and a jump box also. the cars trying to start harder then it has before. i think i actually had it running for maybe a second but it immediately died back out on me. the gas in the car is over 8 months old also which ive heard different things about whether or not that could be the reason.

the timing is there, the fuel is there, and the spark is there. ive searched for weeks about this and cant get it started which is why im posting now. maybe im not searching something that i should or whatever the case may be, but i really need to find out whats the deal. any help is appreciated. Thanks

fuel, compression, and spark are there. as for if its throwing any codes i haven't checked that. check engine light comes on once i crank it i think... not 100% but i see it come on then go off.

possible... i had it upgraded to ECMlink V3 not long before i started the swap though, and i remember i took it to them in person out in Maryland and they tested it fully. Only thing they found was the alternator part of it was fried which they fixed.

Could the cas still be bad even though I have spark on all 4?

Check the codes that it is throwing it could be something simple such as coolant temp sensor, bad ecu, or bad cas.

If you have spark and injector pulse on all 4 than the cas is in perfect working condition. I'd do a compression test and verify that your timing marks are right.

I will definitely check the codes... only problem is that the car is at my brothers storage unit 50 miles away and with work i cant just drive down there anytime.

I will do a compression test on it possibly tomorrow ill go before work.

I have tried just holding the gas pedal down, fluttered it, just straight up crank. it seems to want to start most when i flutter it. but basically its just cranking really hard like it wants to start.... but just doesnt start.

and as far the fuel pump i have a walboro 255 lph fuel pump and i can definitely hear it kick in... im pretty positive its working.

had this problem with a buddys car, how do you have the spark plug wires? with the stock coil pack you have to swap 1 and 4 with 2 and 3. http://magnusmotorsports.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/02/1gina2g.pdf

this helps alot this is what we had to fallow, also you gotta swap your injector pins at the ecu

thats with the stock 2g coil pack, even with dsm link, i had to do it with my 2g i had dsm link in it

Yes you need to still swap the plug wires. If that doesnt solve it the timings prob off.

That's probably it, yes we had the same problem with his but we swapped the pins at the ecu, with out dsm link, first, then tried to start it, would sound like it wanted to but just wouldn't, swapped the plug wires around and wala she fired right up. With mine I swapped the pins at the ecu on stock eprom, and run a 1g cas on my 7bolt because the old sensors broke, any way, then i swapped the plugs and it started the first time, then when i put dsm link all i did was change the non 95-96 cas option and it started with no problem one

I know this might sound stupid but make sure you have the right plug plugged into the coilpack when i first went to start my 6 bolt swap i still had somewhat of spark and I had my plugs switched for the CAS. I had to take my plug off the coilpack to get it to fully reach the correct plug. Just throwing it out there because with 3 plugs in the same area that are all the same things can get confusing.

The coolant temp sensors, did you switch them with the correct ones for your car? I've seen people not swap those out and car would not start. Make sure you have followed the Magnus writeup perfectly as far as what sensors to swap out and what not. Other than that, fuel + spark and the motor turning over should fire up. My car sits all winter with fuel in the tank and will fire right up no problem so I very seriously doubt that is your issue.

I'll check that again. I have the 2g engine connectors pages saved and will double check the wires off the connector. My brother checked it out I believe and said it was fine but checking again won't hurt.

as far as the sensors go I swapped it to the upper piece of the 1g thermostat. The lower piece still has the 1g sensor. I actually have a picture of this but can't load it up here since im on my phone. Im sure I've seen the Magnus write up but will check it over again.

Im getting mixed advice as far as the ecu pin swapping portion goes. 95weclipse suggests you still have to swap them even with dsmlink as to where somebody else not on tuners suggests that it's not necessary if I've got the setting clicked in ecmlink. Anybody else have an opinion on that?

I have my plug wires switched even with dsmlink it will start with them not switched around but it runs like crap I don't think it would be the coolant sensor because on my recent clutch adventure i had pulled off my plug without realizing and it still started. There is a small wire I believe that is for the starter relay that can be sometimes over looked it runs with the rest of the harness over the transmission under the intercooler pipe just another idea. Especially if you have recently done work to it.

I'm really leaning towards the wrong plug on the coilpack because your symptoms sound just like mine did it took me 2 weeks to just decide to switch plugs and try. I had tried an ecu, coilpack and CAS and it ended up that the coilpack plug had to be removed from the bracket so it would reach the correct plug.

Next chance I get to go work on it I'll check that. There's quite a few things I have too check. All the suggestions are definitely pointing me somewhere instead of being clueless. Thanks for all the help to everyone.
