6 bolt build

howdy folks got a few questions about a six bolt build i got goin on for my 2g eclipse. So i got a 6 bolt block with just crank rods and evo 9 pistons from a guy off Craigslist for a great deal and got the original invoice with it. then i purchased a head from a fellow tuner on here for another great deal and it came with supertech valves manley titanium retainers and dual valve springs, 3g lifters and a black cas. i recently picked up a 1g water pipe and oil pan. Now ive made a list of all the other things i need for this build and want to see if you guys think ive got everything just about covered..

Things needed still that i think
oil strainer
valve guides
valve stem seals
cas harness for 6 bolt swap in 2g
rear main seal housing
oil squiters...(dont know if needed but just want to be sure before i cross it off the list)
cams(havent decided/ dont know what kind to go with)

thats all i can think off the top of my head....this is my first engine build so im a little nervous im if im doing it right or not my end goal is to build the motor up for 350-450 hp but wont have cash for a turbo to propel me to that for a while and the car will see a track maybe ten times a year

Replace your waterpump while you can access it easily with a new gasket so that is done and dont have to worry about it. other things i dont see on your list Timing belt, tensioner, tensioner pulley, idler pulley, head gasket. Might as well changer all your seals and gaskets while your at it while you can easily , intake gasket , exhaust gasket, valve cover gasket etc etc. A whole Topline gasket set from extremepsi.com is 100 bucks.

Another thing is are you sure that block has not spun a bearing or anything? It would suck to get it all together and start it up and it has a rod knock. I would disassemble block get it decked, bored/honed whichever it needs and throw in fresh bearings and rings while your at it.

sorry i forgot the whole timing assemblyand gaskets im at work and wanted to do a quick right up...i mean im pretty sure it isnt spun the guy i bought it from bought it brand new and then crashed his eclipse so had no use for it so im assuming everything is ok...but in the car world you cant assume so i guess tonight or tomarrow morning ill look at it how would i go about checking it but i couldnt see how it could have a spun anything its all brand new

does my list look ok other than the things i forgot though ?

Whats the end use of the car? DD? Street/strip? Autox?

There is no "one cam fits all"

You have a pile of good parts for the head, With the Manley dual spings w/ Ti retainers, you have a wide selection of cams to choose from.

i just recently got a crazy deal on a 99 gst and motor blew shortly after.low compresion. now know why i got a deal on it.. neways, i found a fully built 6 bolt with invoices as well and i just had to buy the kiggly kit for the 2g tranny to match up to the 6 bolt motor.. was $309 from extreme psi

but again i am i very new newbie to dsm world

and same as u im looking for 350-450hp max but not sure what turbo i need.. and other upgrades yet.. i need to research more.

it is my daily driver for the next year and a half while i attend UTI and will hit the track maybe ten times a year...as far as mating the 6 bolt and 2g trans will i need anything special i know i a 6 bolt flywheel and anything else ive never heard of needing a special kit to mate the too

i will be rocking on a 14b until i can afford something pump gas friendly and meet my hp marks

Then you will want to stay in the "smaller" 272 cams, BC, HKS, FP2/Comp.

im not sure but i was told it fully built top and bottom end.. everything but a cam.. for whatever reason

for the transmission part im an auto so maybe that makes a diff but the 1g and 2g flex plates r diff.. $309 and week of waiting i didnt expect..

I love my 272s with the hx35. If you do cams, get adj cam gears. Best investment ever.

What are you going to use for tune? What injectors? What RPM band do you want to be in?

No reason they would not.

yea i got it as full longblock with a ton of extras. someone set his car on fire and only thing saved was the motor..

Looks like stock rods.

The block surface looks decent so far.

Is there a name on the pistons? Those are not OE desgined (63DT). So maybe NRP brand???

How about a pic of the bottom of the head.

the pistons have EK9 written on them the guy i got the block from said it was a re-machined crank 1g rods and evo 9 pistons

I'm a noob too. I'm going to be doing a 6 bolt swap and saw this in my search. It's all you need to know. Your set up looks good and your staying with stock 2.0 your going to have insane top end with a hx35+272 cams. Not much on the low end and with 272's your going to have some lag and not so great low end torque.
