Ask Me,
Virginia
I asked some questions in the past here about a 5th gear swap and now I have some more since information is extremely disjoined on doing the swap.
I have pulled the .666 5th gear from a working 1g AWD transmission to put into my ..741 5th gear equipped 1g FWD 91-92 styled transmission.
I carefully set aside the 1g AWD 5th gear (and associated parts not pictured) in the order that I removed them.
Pictured below are all of the parts that I removed from my 1g FWD transmission. (Yes I know that I chipped the lip on one of the gears but I used a bearing puller on the AWD transmission so the gearset is not chipped.
I have no idea what some of these parts do and I generally don't care. This has not been my first 5th gear swap on a FWD transmission (different vehicle) but I did a quick and dirty swap with no issues.
I'd like to be a bit more careful with this car and make sure the swap is very simple.
My questions are as follows:
1) Can I simply swap out all of the parts pictured with the ones from the above mentioned working AWD transmission or do I have to/can I use anything from the old set?
2) Can I mix and match any of these parts? If not, which ones can I not mix and match?
These are my questions for now.
Thanks
