Well I FINALLY made it to the dyno. There is a semi local shop Xotic Motorsports that has a AWD Dyno Jet and they had a 5 passes for 50 bucks dyno event. I drove to the dyno 85 miles round trip in this cold ass weather with no issues other that trying to avoid the Amish in their buggies. I was on the same settings that I had back at the Shootout. I haven’t changed anything since Wes first built and tuned the car last spring other than the headgasket after some aggressive toning at the track last November.

All passes were made on C16 at 22 degrees total timing and 11.0afr as read by my tech edge wideband and the tail pipe wide band that the shop uses.[

The first run was at 25lbs just so I could see what all was going on and make sure all was well. All I did was pull on to the dyno after waiting my turn and I put in fresh br7es. I was a bit nervous because I had no idea what it would really make. You can see the run here

We then crept the boost up a bit every pass. I wanted to make a run at 32lbs but all we got was 29-30. My final pass can be viewed here

I should have video of the run up by next week. You can read my mods by following the link in my profile.

If I had to say anything about the passes I would say that I am pretty happy with the curve. I wish I would have been less of a ####y and run it out to 8k because it looks like the power wasn’t really falling off any just staying nice and flat. I might have had another 5-7 hundred rpms there. Looking over everything I think the potential for 600 is pretty obvious with some more fine tuning and those 2 extra lbs of boost :dsm:

Is this 3rd gear on a 2.4 I hope? Cause if that's 4th, the 2.4 doesn't seem to be doing much for spool-help. :) Nice numbers. How much does your car weigh? 130 mph traps and 550 whp seems a little bit off cause you have a nice powerband too. Looking at people like Leon Reitman's 490 whp was able to net him 130+ mph traps.... Don't get me wrong, your numbers are nice, but you sure you were pretty much around this power level when you ran 130 mph traps?

dynos have a lower load value then found on the street. Spool time will appear later in the rpm band then it actually is. If i had to guess, Rdrkt is spooling that turbo around 3K.

Nice numbers you said based on your trap speeds you were around the 550 range some time ago. I guess the track is a good indication of HP:thumb:

Very good JDM! You are correct on both accounts. Thank you.

This was an awd dyno jet. Not a 2 wheel. So the numbers may look a bit different that way too.

My car weighs around 3400lbs with me in it and it went 103 in the eighth and 131 in the quarter with a 1.95 60ft. If I had a bit more traction off the line I bet I would imagine Leon's car weighs under 2700lbs with driver and I dont know if he has been to the dyno since his last big money pass.

Was the dyno used an inertia type dyno or a loaded type? I've read that the inertia type dyno's are more accurate, but I can't find much concrete info on the different types of dyno's. I know that loaded dyno's read a lower amount of power than the inertia type dyno's, but which one can you trust?

I'm not comparing it to the street. I know dyno's have a different load value which makes them appear laggier on the dyno. For a .82 t3 on a 2.4 , I s'pose it is about right. I guess it just goes to show either the .82 is just that much huge-er or that the 2.4 isn't that great and just makes up for the big exhaust housing by only a few hundo rpms OR that the 2.4 isn't that big of a difference in spoolup time if that .82 isn't that much bigger than a .63 ... But I s'pose the .82 could just be THAT much bigger.. (I don't know what I'm trying to say, I'll try again later) OMG

3400# would make sense for the trap/whp but is alot of weight. No offense, but are you a heavy-er guy?

;) you could always run your car on both and decide for yourself? seeing as you dont seem to care about what I have to say

Nice numbers Dave! Want to do it again this coming weekend? You can take top honors while I try to go for an honorable mention second. ;) Hopefully your intake mani and AEM EMS doesn't equate to a 57whp difference between your car and mine, or I'll be upset with my pulls not breaking 500. It probably will be more than 57whp difference though.

Ah well, sorry for the rambling. Nice job, again. :thumb:

I would like to know what you have to say. I really don't know much about dyno's.

VERY NICE, DAVE!

I find it that your curve is shaped almost exactly like my curve! It must be the intake manifold :). The big difference (other than the power), is that just about everything on your curve seems to be happening 500-600rpms sooner. Which makes sense with a larger, stroker motor.

My full ball bearing turbo was not enough to counter that manifold design. But then, I even noticed the lag when I was running my 14b!

As for my car’s weight. Doesn’t anyone read the profile anymore? :)

I am always surprised at how many people think that my car is gutted. It is right around 2900lbs, which is light, but by no means stripped: I still have all factory glass, full power doors (with beams) and most of my interior.

But since everyone already thinks that my car is stripped, I may just as well do it, so I am planning loosing around 200lbs, at which point, I will be around 2700 lbs :).

Im gonna say if it didn’t surge so much it would have been even nicer.

The Green Machine a.k.a winged wonder was quite light and that is what we all associate you with. Did you drop your motor into a new body and go for a more street setup?

But I still have the Green Machine! And it was never all that light! I am going to be making it into what most people thought it was, a gutted race car :). But it is still not there yet!
