just a quick question, I have a 190 and am planning to put that pump in rewired. But untill then can I just put the 550's in and run say 15-18 psi on a 14B ported? I know each car is different, what should I be looking for on the logger to insure nothing bas is going on if I can go that route.

Time being I dont have a SAFC. But when the pump goes in and is rewired I will have a SAFC at that time.

mods on the car are:

3" turbo back w/magnaflow high flow cat
14B ported
exhaust manifold ported
o2 housing ported
mbc
K&N filter
FMIC
1G bov

I wasnt sure if I can just add the injectors now to flow more fuel so their duty cycle isnt maxed and they dont stay 100% open. Atleast thats what i have read on some posts.

You cant add them without fuel control. Wait till you get the SAFC to install the injectors. You need to compensate for them so teh car will run right.

From what ive been told you want to stay under 80% duty cycle. Anything over can cause the injectors not to spray right or something but it can be done.

Without a wideband o2 sensor the only thing you can do is tune to 0 knock.

So pretty much just watching if timing is pulled and watch the fuel trims since on a 2G you cant log knock. Or atleast thats what I have been told and have read.

think with an safc and an eprom compensating for 650's i can tune my afr out so the car isn't drinking fuel? I have an ngk wideband i haven't installed it though

If the ecu is compensated then you dont even need the safc, it should run fine. A chipped ecu is great you can have a full tune on it with custom fuel maps and timing maps. The safc would be used for adding race fuel and stuff like that. If its burned right you dont need much tuning.

I have 680's its made for 650's i'm running pig rich and hitting a wall at like 4k can only drive under light throttle. I've got a free safc coming and i can install my wideband. I also thought of getting a new chip made.

Are your 680's PTE 680's? If so they probley flow alot more like 650's. The PTE injectors are rated at a higher fuel pressure then we use, higher then a 2G and alot higher then a 1G. If you are that rich have you checked for boost leaks?

In my car I always boost leak test it before I go to the track, but on a normal day I watch my wide band AFR's and when they go rich I test it. I must say on boost leaks, since I added all new silicone, 2 hump hoses (1 before the IC and 1 after to control flex with the engine movment), and good t-bolt clamps I have not had a boost leak for 2 months, I have been driving the car everyday and have put over 3k mile on it in these last 2 months. I have been very pleased in my $100 investment for all new couplings and hardware.

Yea they are Pte's and I was thinking they would flow around the same as 650's also it def could be a boost leak. I was thinking that the other day i tightened up the pipes, but i never did a test. I really pray that is what is wrong. Feels like it could be, but still seems weird even for a boost leak. I'll see what turns up thanks for convincing me into doing the test

No prob, after I repaced all my silicone and clamps I thought everything was good, but the car was running a little funny... So I did a boost leak test (standard to do if you just messed with the IC pipes). I found all my new connections were holding good but now a few vacuum lines were leaking, they did not leak before because the IC pipes leaked first... the air will take the path of least resistance (biggest leak) and when you fix all those you will find new ones... but they are smaller and smaller as you go along.

I have no boost leaks what so ever still have problem i think its that im running rich as piss. Car smells like a gas station after driving slowly which i have to do with the rpm probhlem

Back to the original topic...

Yes, you are correct in that the most you can do with a 2g sans DSMLink is watch your timing curve. Also there is no need to get a MAFT setup at your current level of mods.
