Ive been looking at all the e85 setups going around and I havnt seen anybody try it with smaller injectors. Ive a got a evo316,550cc rc injectors, aeromotive adjustable fpr, maft with 3" gm maf,aem uego, 255 lph fuel pump, -6 braided line from tank to filter.

If I threw e85 in the car now would I be able to tune it and make more power than right now using 93?

You will be able to make alot more power on e85 right out of the box. Now 550's are very small when your talking about e85. You might want 900's or better because of the use of more fuel. 550's will need to be at 200% duty cycle to work correctly on e85. I hope this helps.

You have to add roughly 25-30% more fuel with e85. At 30% those 550s would now be 385s so you would not be able to run much boost but probably aggressive timing. Like above, usually people run 900s and up with e85. maybe you can try throwing a gallon or two in for knock suppression and see if it helps at all, but i would still probably add a little fuel.

But would adding a gallon or two of e85 safe, on a stock fuel system?

Common misconception that people NEED huge injectors to run E85..

But it varies on how much boost you run and if you do like a 50 50 mix.

You could get away with 550s if it was low boost and mixed, but they would max out quickly and that seems pretty pointless to run it if you're not going to get the full benefit of the ethanol.

I run 750s on the silver car with the 16g. I run straight E85 and generally about 19psi. It seems to spool quicker and def makes more power. I haven't maxed them out.
I had 650s and was 80% IDC with lower boost.

True, but a lot of guys with the huge injectors are running high boost like 25psi+ and aggressive timing

So if I understand correctly with e85 you just need to re-tune the car to get 25% to 30% more fuel. With 550's I probably would max them out really quickly since the injectors are small. If I were running stock boost it would be ok but that's not reaping the benefits of e85. With the 900cc injectors I would need some better engine management like dsmlink ,dsmap , or a full standalone. Thanks guys and correct me if I am wrong on any level.

you could probably run 12-14psi with full e85 on the 550s. you could probably run 18-20psi with a gallon or two in full tank. Youre most likely not going to reap much benefit from a gallon or two. Maybe some slight knock suppression.

I tuned my car for pump gas a/f ratios at idle, cruise, and part throttle. I added more fuel from 3500 on up. The What changed the most was the timing curve. I was able to advance timing a sh*t load before seeing any knock

So basically converting to E85 with 550cc injectors is pointless. Your're gonna run out of fuel and you wont see benefits until you're putting your foot in it and boosting the car.

I used 450inj. with high fuelpressure... should be nearly the same.
I was not able to run more than 14PSI with a little 14B (running 100% duty cycle!)

It will not be worth it on those injectors. It only really does any good once you hit the limit of pump gas which can handle a lot more boost than 14psi. So on 550cc injectors you can make more power on pump gas since you wont run out of injector and would beable to run more boost.

HMM i was thinking about that since I have 750's

Really. What did you tune with?

^Probably a fuel pressure regulator.

I've heard of guys literally just slapping in 550s, and throwing in e85 without any tuning and having it come out close. It sounded like a hit or miss thing that could be messed with by adjusting the MAF a little bit or switching to a 1g automatic FPR. It isn't the sort of thing that I would do to my car and it doesn't make sense to do it now but when gas was $4.50 and ethanol was <$3 it made some sense even without the performance gain.
