I am wondering what I can leave stock and still be good at 550 hp . I know the stock head is left alone by a few people and got really good numbers. Can I leave the valvetrain stock too? I was going to go with 272's and crower springs but I read that the stock springs are good w/aftermarket cams if you use shims. Well give me your info and thoughts on this.

Holset 35/40
tial 38mm w/g
50mm bov
3" exhaust
sbr manifold
dejon tool intake man.
dsm or s afc
maft
3" maf gm
wiescos 8.3:1 .40 over
eagle rods
Butcher crank
750cc injectors
walbro 255 fp
probably need 190 also
aeromotive reg.
fidanza flywheel
2600 act clutch

I suggest adding a front mount or air to water intercooler somewhere along the list. Also to be safe i would get bigger injectors around 850cc or so, and dont cheap out on the head, get the springs.. Remember that "what ever you put in it is what you will get back" so dont try to take shortcuts anywhere by trying to use some stock part. I always try to overkill when ever i build.. so say if i want 300hp ill build it like i really want 400. It personally gives me more insurance. maybe its just me but oh well.. Good luck with your build man! :thumb:

ur gonna need a 255lph, and bigger injectors definately. i'm running 16psi on 680cc's with my 50 trim and i'm at 80% duty cycle...

If you havent purchased the wiescos...... dont. The local Machine shops have seen a lot of issues with them at over 500 hoarses. Around here they reccommend the JE's....just a heads up

i would definetly go with bigger injectors, like 91PlyLaser recommended. Oh and definetly a fmic. Also think about building that tranny, if memory serves me correct their rated max hp to be 400 hp stock. so you might to consider building that tranny. good luck with your build :thumb: 550 AWHP will be a beast :D

I would say exactly the opposite. At 500+ HP the very low tolerance quality of JE pistons is exactly where they fail. Wiseco pistons have been proven to make upwards of 1000hp in many 4 cylinder engines. They are also proven to have the tightest quality standards and the best machining in the industry. There are many independant tests showing that they are the best out there.

Personally we have used them in many cars and have seen into 600-650s with them on turbo and turbo&nitrous cars with no problems at all. Hell one of our turbo nitrous cars hit a 14.5:1 air fuel ratio at WOT on the dyno with nitrous spaying going lean made over 500 whp and the pistons still didn't melt.

Food or thought: http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=111079&page=1&pp=25&highlight=wiseco+piston+test

I have personally seen 500 on wiseco piston on a 96 2.4 long block and on a 2.3stroker.
I dont seem the have an issue with them

Ok to start...ahhh Yeah I decided to go with crower springs and ret. cause theyre only 250 and it'll be well worth it along the 272 cams I want. I bought a intercooler core and going to make my own lower pipes and buy a dejontool upper for blow through. All of the part on my list is what I have bought , as for the pistons, I read a few articles saying that weisco is one of the leading pistons in the industry and the lightest for the 4g63. After buying the 750's I relized that I am most likely need 850-900cc injectors for what I want. I am going to go all out on the drivetrain with a shep racing tranny and driveshaft shop axels and driveshaft, I also need to get quafe lsd's. And as far as my engine management, I was thinking of getting a safc to go with my maft and add a wide band and datalogger with the combo. I have one walbro 255lph should I get an additional 190 or 255?

Another thing I am questioning is the manifold, I am thinking of getting the Tial 38mm wastegate welded on to a 2g man. or just go with a SB cast log manifold. Have any of you heard of or used the dejon tool manifold?

With that kind of setup, why would you skimp on the tunning? For the bit extra cost of the safc/logger combo go dsmlink, its well worth the extra $ with all the additional features. Also there is no way your going to get a good tune with a "piggyback" system with the size of injector you will need to run. If you go the safc route you will need something else such as an eprom chip to compensate for those injectors. By the time you add up all the pieces, just get dsmlink & be done with it :thumb:

yea dsmlink will be better then running a S-AFC with that large of injectors. also i believe your gonna need a stronger clutch. probally a 2900.
