Just wondering how much horsepower your stock transmission can hold? And if it matters and I bet it does, just say the car has around 135,000 miles.

Thanks

how rebuilt you talkin? sorry to jack the thread, but i have a new clutch and new fluid. clutch-act2600 w/ clutchnet 6puck sprung hub. now whats the next thing that will break in the tranny? :D

well once you start running 12s or faster .. or you are just a bad driver and always shift hard ... then parts inside our trannies start to break. A tranny with 135000 miles on it is going to break a lot easier than a newer tranny because there's more wear on the parts so I'd take it easy on the car.

when i talked to shep of shepard racing, i told him that i would be running low 11 high 10 and he said a basic rebuild plus welded center diferential and 3/4 custom shift rail should be good.

my question is if that will hold low 11 high 10 power than the stock tranny should hold mid 11 no problem time after time or does the two thing he told me to add make that big of a difference and why do they only upgrade the 3/4 shift rail and not the 1/2 shitf rail?

thanks

The 3/4 shift rail has a tendancy to shatter if shifted hard from 2 to 3.

I am kinda curious about thsi as well since I am soon up to a 400HP crank engine. Now my tranny was replaced due to failure last summer(by insurance company) and they wouldnt let me put in a built one..so I got a brand new stock tranny instead. It was breaken in as should but it will be interesting to see how it will hold up :)

Yeah i have 147,000 miles on stock tranny with bg snycro shift fluid and a 2100 clutch, but it doesnt' seem too be getting any better and my second gear syncro's are grinding. I'm running mid to high 12's now but plan on runing somewhere in the 11's overall, i'm sure next year i will want to run LOW 11's, but for the time being i would like the car to run hi to mid 11's overall, but my question is how much upgrading is nessesary on my old stock tranny. What would be a good upgrades for a hi 11 sec AWD? i know i'll probobaly have to upgrade to a 2600 pressure plate too. THanks

Out of curiousity, why a puck clutch? Do you inspect your flywheel regularly?

My tranny is starting to get worse. If it will hold out I'm gonna wait till this summer to rebuild it. What are my best options on this. I know of a few people around my area that are really good with tranny's so should I get the parts and take it to them or ship it to a good company? What are my options?
