Bought A 6Bolt 4G63.
I Wanna Go Straight Threw It.
I Dont Wanna Spend Like 5gs
But Its A Winter Project Looking To Spend 2-3
But Dont Want Junk Partss.
I Want 500+.
Give Me Ideas For best Way To Go.
Its A 1g Motor. But i think I Might slide it into a 2g awd shell.
I Wanna Send It Out For Port And Polish And Everything Else.
So If You kno A good Place to send it.

LOL really? You should read other peoples threads and search through the forums as many other people have made 500+ on this website.

And as your budget, thats 2-3k for the motor alone or including a shell? It's going to take a lot more money than that to make 500whp through a 2g awd when all you have is a block and are planning to buy a shell.

You're not going to get much, especially reliable if you're going to be a cheap-ass. Go buy a bottle of NOS and run a huge shot to get to 500 if you don't want to spend any money. You especially won't get much if you want to send your car off to get worked on. You're gonna spend 5k for a car in good shape.

Best advice all morning.

Fast - Cheap - Reliable

Pick 2.

So let me get this straight:

1. You want 500+hp. Cool.
2. You don't want junk parts. Good.
3. You dont want to spend over 3k. Not gonna happen.

You need to do some research. Go look at the dyno database and see what kind of mods the 500+whp guys are using. I can guarantee you this though, my old setup wasn't 500whp, 400-425 yea, and i spent wayyyy more than 3 grand. (Granted i did overbuild it a little but still).

You may get close buying used parts but I'd estimate it'll take closer to 4500-5000.

I am on the edge of 500 awhp on a dynamic dynometer(Low reading) and have all quality parts and its built right. Let just say I have more than 4x the amount you want to spend. Your goal should be closer to 300-350 for a budget of 3k.

Nooooo 2-3gs on turbo setup.
Not including shell or anything.
Then 272/272 cams.
Turbo alone is 1200 that i already found and on the list.
Im looking 2-3 on cams.rods.pistons.

I Want 300-400hp Before Snow Is Gonee..And That Wont Be A Problem.

Waitwaitwait.

Overall - What do you have to spend?

Well what skill set do you have?

Are you going to build the engine? Or do you want to buy a shoer block or long blok and install it?

I Have As Much Money As It Cost To Build It. But Its Just My Project For Weekend.
Im Buding It From Block Up. With A Few Friends.
My Friend Has A 620awhp Teggy. And A 535awhp Eclipse.

That's neat and all - with your friend... However you seem to be diving into this a little haphazardly. Also the constant caps is giving me a headache.

As Bogus asked, what skills do you have? Are you familiar with proper machine work? Checking tolerances and clearances? Are you comfortable assembling an engine starting with a bare block and nothing else?

Otherwise I'm just going to say 'blow your money on an engine someone else bought and slap your bolt-ons on there and go.' However, if you've got the money then go for it.

I have over 5k on a bottom end/head alone (machined/built by a VERY reputable shop). Could have I done it cheaper? Yes, if I where to assemble it myself, or go to an unknown shop for the machine work.

But the reality is, with a ross/eagle combo and a set of fp2s I/E, your looking at over 1300 in parts alone. That assumes your six bolt crank is in good shape. Now add in front case, timming belt, water pump, tensioner, ALL then engine seals, HG, Head studs, main studs. Now your looking at 2k plus. Figure in the cost for QUALITY machine work, which can add up real quick.

Now, you can do the assembly yourself, but do you have the proper quality measureing tools required? Do you have a quality torque wrench? Also, like BogusSVO said, do you have the skills required to put together a 500hp engine?

This doesn't even begin to touch on the tuning aspect. Fuel pump, fuel line, AFPR, Injectors, EMS. Which is going to cost you easily over 1K. Probably closer to 2K.

I'm by no means trying to discourage you... But you really need to think through the reality of making a high power dsm, that will also be reliable...

Also, there is a factor that EVERYONE over looks when they take on a project like this, and EVERYONE who has taken on a project like this can attest too. You will be nickle and dimed TO DEATH.

And don't get me started on drivetrain costs...

I Am Not. not sure yet what im doing with all that. Im not sure if its easier to ship out or try it myself. My friends have done it before. But like i said might be easier to send to a shop for maching or my friends shop.

So you are just the money man then? Your buddies will do the build?

If that is the case, Call Jackson Auto Machine (JAM), or SIM, or Magnus or Busher, order in your flavor of shortblock, then pick the stage head to suit your needs.

Finish up the assembly and dress out of the engine with your buddies, drop it in your shell, get a tune and enjoy!

Yes. Call Buscher, or Magnus. Tell them what you want. Done.

If I Do Shop its Gonna Be Jackson In Mass. They Do Good Work.
Im Buding Car With My Friends.. But im not gonna build it all.

Just curious why you don't check with your friend with the 535awhp Eclipse and basically copy that build along which check who did that engines work and see how much it cost them to build? That's not to say additional opinions aren't great but if this is a "known" hp rating and you want "500hp" why not start there?

Not To Sound cocky but i like to keep my car more original and not copy his way of building and taking all his same parts. He had it built in long island.

Who ever you take the engine to, make sure they are fluent in the DSM engine.

Just beacuse they can build a 1000 HP Small block Chevy, does not mean they can build a 300 HP 4G63.

There are horror stores about that on this board.

So make sure they know what to do, How to do it, and have the proper equipment to do it.

Well there is just a dsm garagee in my area. All they work on and build is dsm. But ive heard good news from people that been there. But ill prob just send to jackson Inless the shop 3miles from my house can do it for half the price and still do a great job.
