Do you still need to rough up the current paint on the car to get the rustoleum to stick like you need to do before you spray?

Thanks a lot EclipseTrbo420a. Hopefully over the winter I can do this to my 1g, I plan on doing the smoke gray, keeping the black talon top. And did any of you guys paint the engine bay? I would imagine it would be easier to get the rustoleum spray and use that, so I think I will try that as well.
That sounds sweet but I heard the smoke grey is just primer looking...I was goin to do the aluminum but was being rushed when deciding on my color and sinch I have always wanted a blacl talon I just bought the gloss black...besides, its not like I cant paint it anytime I want to really
Anyone that has done this: how is it in tight corners? Or sharp angle's, tight areas were the roller will not fit? can you brush those areas? I need to do my hood and am interseted in this. Wondering if the Rustolem black will be different than the Mitsu black.
Just a thought, I understand cutting the paint with mineral spirits since it is an oil base, but why is everyone using mineral spirits to clean the car? Why not use denatured alcohol? No residue to deal with and it should clean very well. Just load it up in a spray bottle and go after it.
EclipseTrbo420A, can you post pics of the paint/cans that you got from Home depot. Also what grit of sandpaper did you use before paint and in between coats?
I think I am also going to try cutting the paint with denatured alcohol and painting a banged-up fender from my wife's truck. I want to see if it cuts the dry time but doesn't weaken the paint.


So... if I shake it really hard it'll blend?
K, I'll try a very small mix (just 'cause) and see since it is a fender we're throwing out anyway. I'm sure you're right but it can't hurt to try it (unless it creates a toxic cloud which kills me and everyone in a 50ft radius... that'd hurt.)

Each pint I had was w/o ice and about 1/5 rum each.Yeah, thanks man. Are you doing your entire car or just the bumpers, sides etc. I mean, your "after" pics is what is gonna give me faith in this.
Okay, the pictures look good, but someone straight up tell me, how different does it look than a good paint job done professionally? Is it easily noticeable that it wasn't done conventionally?

so I sand with 250 before I paint>2 coats>800 grit>2 coats>600 grit>2 coats> 1000 grit??
6 coats should be good right?
