I have a 1991 tsi talon with 4g63t engine. I also have an almost new 4g63 engine. Will the crankshaft and connecting rods from the NA engine work in the turbo engine?
Thanks,
Ken

I posted on the tread 4g63t and 4g63 part interchange. I am aware that the pistons are different from a turbo and NA engines. I am just asking about the crank and rods.
Sincerely,
Ken

Assuming they are both 6 bolt or both 7 bolt yes they interchange. I did not assume your 91 is 6 bolt. It should be 6 bolt if it's original. You should make sure on both engines. They need to match.
They are both 6 bolt crankshaft. The engine in the 1991 tsi lost the timing belt and has no compression. My plan is to use the cylinder head, crankshaft and rods from the 1992 in the 1991 when I rebuild it.
Do have a good suggestion as to where to buy pistons? A lot of the manufactures are VERY pricy.
Thank you for your response.
Sincerely,
Ken

Not possible to answer without knowing the purpose of the car.

Does the NA engine in a 1992 6 bolt crankshaft use full floating wrist pins as does the turbo engine?
Thanks for all of your help,
Ken

One of your motors is not oem is my guess.
No, both engines are stock. I have the 1991 tsi still in the can and the other I removed from a running 1992 original talon NA.
I am trying to determine if the NA engine has full floating wrist pins like the turbo engine does.

4g63 with turbo and non turbo are press to fit wrist pins. If you have floating pins it isnt oem.

As Paul says, the pins are press fit into the rods on 4g63/64 motors.

(not looking for thumbs ups on this post, just acting as an additional voice of confirmation that he's not talking out of his rear)

I was under the impression that only the turbo 4g63t were full floating. You are telling me that both turbo and non turbo engines have pressed in the rod wrist pins in 1991 and 1992. Is that correct?
Thanks for the help,,
Ken
