4g63t 2.0 engine questions

Alright my buddy found me a 2.0 4g63t engine for 450. All it needs its a belt, waterpump, mounts. Besides that how much differnt is it from my 1.8 that came with my 98 gst? are the parts interchange able is the 2.0 better? what are the pros and cons of it.

Why/how did your GS-T come with a 1.8? Is the 1.8 from a 1st gen N/T dsm? Anyway is the 4g63T a 6 bolt or 7 bolt? The difference is night and day. 1.8 non-turbo is rated at 92 hp and a 2.0 4g63 turbo is rated at 210 hp. With a healthy 4g63T, it has been proven to go over 400 whp on the stock internals. The 4g63T is also dohc. I do not think the parts are interchangeable.

idk i was told that mine was a 1.8 maybe i herd wrong but it has a turbo it isent the N/A one but my valve are bent from a belt slip so im looking for engines or possinly rebuilding it im still thinking on what to do.

The 98 eclipse GS-T came with a 2.0 4g63T from the factory, so unless the previous owner swapped in a 1.8 n/a, which wouldn't make a lot of sense to me, I don't know what to tell you.

alright i have the engine in the first picture i guess i got confussed because the guy on craglist was making the one sold in the seond picture seem 10x better... god i gotta learn more haha well are there any good engine rebuild kits for the 4g63t on the market or am i just replacing it as if i have to but it part by part?

Are you just planing to rebuild the head, or are you planning to do a full rebuild? What are your goals for the car? And what is your budget? Will you be rebuilding it yourself or having a shop build it?

I will be doing it my self with the help of my friend who is a mech at a ford dealer ship. I only plan on rebuilding the top half but i havent actully got to look at my pistons yet so idk the outcome of them but i am 100% sure i need new vavles and that means i need new cover if im correct?

What do you mean new cover?
Valve cover?
Or are you talking about a head?
Usually you will need new valves, lash adjusters/lifters, and springs.
Okay, you don't need the springs, but it's smart.
Pistons may be cracked. If the pistons are cracked go to another 8.5:1 piston and hone the cylinder walls.

I got a 97 gst all stock except injen intake and filter and hks bov...idles at 1600 rpm tho....anyone got any suggestions weather its vaccum leak? i tried finding a vaccum leak and couldn't find one anone know what else to look at?

alright now i have a 6blot head that i had laying around but i dont think that will fit on a 7 bolt if im correct could be wrong. now sorry to be a noob but what exacly does hone the walls mean?

Ok, this is what your gonna wanna do. Lift the engine out cause it makes it alot easier to pull the crank out and get the pistons out. the valve most likely bent from the piston hitting it because the 4G63 is a interference motor. make sure there are no cracks in the piston heads and rods and replace the main and rod bearings or caps in the process. Its cheap and you might as well replace them if you pull them out. so your gonna wanna do a top and bottom end rebuild and youll prob want to take the head to a machine shop to get it vacuum checked ### the valve prob put a crack in the head when it bent
