I have a 2.3 stroker in my 2.0 block its a 91 block with a 94 head and stock gears for now I set the timing with stock marks and checked it many times when I start the car it has a valve tap like the timing is off so I hooked up a timing light and aimed it at cams and according to it the cams are like 3 teeth off:hmm:Do I have to do something with the timing for the stroker

I think your getting mechanical and ignition timing confused. A timing light is used to check ignition timing. The timing marks on the cam sprockets and crankshaft are used to check mechanical timing. Since your using a 4g63 block you should still use the standard timing marks. Nothing special is required. If the car runs good but makes a ticking noise, then it's likely just lifter tick which is best solved by cleaning or replacing the lash adjusters.

well thing is this is a pretty loud lifter tap and I had this head on my old engine and it never made this sound all I did was drill out the head bolt holes and put it on the new motor and not sure but thought I checked this same thing with a light on old motor once and the cam marks lined up I could be wrong tho

to me it sounds like the timing is off thats the kind of tap it sounds like but all the timing marks line up I have been all over this motor exploring all options of what this tap is and cant find anything I am completly stumped

you had this head on your old motor which was a 2.0 now you have a strocker motor maybe the problem is with the strocker not the head.

I have had the oil pan off checked rod bearings they where good dont know what else could be

If the timing marks on crank and cams line up the way they are sopposed to and you put the balancer on and it lines up with the top dead center on the timing cover shouldnt they all line up when you shine a timing light on them when I shine it on cams they are 2 teeth off I am useing the crank gear from a 94 does that matter are they not the same I am useing the timing ring from the 91 motor
