Does anyone know the exact cc of the 4G63 head... either the 1g or the 2g would help.

We are trying to crunch some compression numbers but need to know the head cc size. Cant find it anywhere. Even mitsu is no help. Anyone know?

Its 47cc long as you have not had aggresive head milling or surfacing. easy to check bit of plastic platewith a small hole in it, some grease to seal the plate on the head and a syringe! and kero as the measuring fluid. (Thats if the head is off) otherwise its 47cc.

This might be a shot in the dark but no one would know the CC for a SOHC G4CS 6 Bolt would they.

We are trying to figure out why there is such a high compression jump by using that block and a DOHC 4G63 head.

Thank you for the replies though!

Remember to D-shape the exhaust ports with aggressive porting and the use of epoxy if your trying to make power. Then have it flowed. Iam going to build a clone of John Shephers motor with less boost and no spray to go 9.50s. He's done this. The gasses hit the turbine faster and hotter.

Considering there's not some huge secret about what he runs, that wouldn't be that hard to do. Use epoxy? Where? You do realize that it takes driver to run 9.50's, not car?

What exactly are you going to duplicate on his setup? Do you know what turbo he runs?

You asked and answered the thing I said above. The power barrier lies in the exhaust ports. You form an upside down D shape. That was his secret. No, I actually thought it was the car that drove itself

No one asked anywhere above about port work, you jsut felt it to tell us. In that same statement, you also decided to tell us the standard ricer line of "I'm building a clone of Shep's car." Please, spare us.

a little off the wall fyi. supercharged buick 3.8 heads have upside down d-shaped exhaust ports.

OK so while we're on the subject of portwork, what do you guys do with the exhaust manifold to blend with the D port in the head?

When I was porting my head I considered the D port, but I wasn't sure where to go from there. I mean, the exhaust gasses still need to flow into the exhaust manifold and into the same runners. It's not like there is enough wall thickness in the runners to continue the height of the D port all the way to the collector, so I left it alone (except for smoothing and polishing the port). Does the D port introduce another curve in the port/runner by raising the roof, then making the exhaust flow back down? How do you get around that, short of making a tubular ex. manifold?
