So I have a 1990 Mitsubishi Eclipse 1.8. A female friend of mine decided to throw a hissy fit and destroyed the sensor end of the my ignition coil wire any suggestions?

Can anybody at least tell me what the sensors called or how I can look it up to buy a replacement? I tried running straight wires from the points I don't know if I'm getting the order wrong or if it's just not going to work the same. There's three prongs on the ignition coil and only two wires on the harness side.

Any input would be really helpful

Hey, welcome to the forum!

For the 1.8L, it’s called the distributor “assembly” because all of the stuff that us 2.0L folks take for granted being separated under the hood is all packed together into one little unit for your car (See attached diagram).

A remanufactured unit is available for purchase on RockAuto HERE, but it isn’t cheap (IMO :toobad:) Sourcing one from a known working parts car (junkyard, car-part.com, etc) would be an alternative.

I’m more interested in seeing the damage caused from this fit of hisses you mentioned ROFL

Like Steve said, send us a pic or two of the engine bay and that area. They’re worth 1000 words, ya know.

Oh! Also, when you get a moment, fill out your vehicle profile (HERE). It will pop up at the end of all your posts so everyone knows what type of DSM is being discussed.

Welcome aboard :hellyeah:
