Hey guys I have a question... I am in the process of putting turbo on my 420a talon. I am going to do it in steps and the first on is the fuel system. I have put in a Walbro pump, and a Vortech Sfmu and have stock eclipse turbo 450cc injectors. My question is... If I install these will the car run too rich when cold? Basically I'm thinking that when the cars cold it goes into a closed loop system, so bigger injectors would cause it to run rich until it warms up and it adjusts itself.. Is this what will happen or are they set the same as normal injectors except they flow more? Or should I just buy some aftermarket ones that are made for the 420a and where should I buy them. THANX EVERYONE!!!! :thumb:

Engine control 101

First of all, when an engine is cold, it's in "open loop" This is where the pcm has a fixed set of parameters it operates off of. When the coolant temp sensor reports back to the pcm that the engine is approximately 180 degrees farenheit and the oxygen sensor is heated up, the engine goes into "closed loop" This is when the pcm looks at all sensors, compares the values, and makes appropriate adjustments to the injectors, timing, etc.

When you change the value of something, like injectors, the pcm does not know this. Remember, it is stupid. It modulates the injectors which are larger like the stock injectors which had the values programmed into the pcm. You will have to add an afc, or change to dsm link, or an aem ems for programable fuel control.

Exactly how rich? I don't know, but the more you change, the more you are going to have to compensate.

Good Luck

As per Quas... the dsmlink will not work for the 420a engine.... I already checked into it. Will a safc or safc II be enough to control it? Also on that topic do I need to spend the extra money on the safc II or is the older one ok. Thanx again for the info.. :D
