I'd like to start off by saying I appreciate any help I can get. This is my 1st "tuner" actually this is the only non Ford push rod v8 powered car I've ever owned, but I got it for literally next to nothing, so please don't laugh at my questions
.
My car currently has a Hahn stage 5 turbo kit(super 20g) it also has a bent valve in the head which caused it to stop running. I had a mechanic pull the plug & put a camera in the cylinders, luckily, the bent valve didn't smack the piston(forged J&E .20 over 8:1). I also found out my motor was rebuilt under 1k miles ago as previous owner stated(could still see machine/hone/bore marks from when it was bored .20 over) I purchased a used head but then found a great deal on a freshly machined stage 3 ported head from cimotorsports.com w crower valves 5 angle valve job Ti retainers etc
I am curious if anyone in the metro Detroit area knows of any good shops or any "mobile mechanics" that could do this head swap and a few other mods for me(I have a brand new msd dis 2 programmable w boost control 6112-2 & would like someone rewire the air bags/air ride suspension) I have all the needed parts for the head swap(brand new arp head studs, new fel pro head/upper end gasket set etc) I'd really like to get the car back on the road this spring/summer if possible. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Now my second part of my question may sound really dumb(again remember I've never owned a turbo car most of my cars had carbs let alone EFI
) my car currently has the complete Hahn stage 5 turbo kit. The turbo isn't bad or anything I just am not a fan of how long it takes to spool. What would my options be, if any, if I wanted to switch the turbo itself? Would I have to buy a whole new kit & piping etc or could I re use any or all of my current setup? It's not possible to switch over to something like a gt35r without essentially getting a whole new "turbo kit" is it? If there is a turbo head unit that would "bolt on" w my kit w none or little mods or buying of new parts what would it be?
Again I appreciate any and all help I can get. If you're a mechanic or know of a shop in the Oakland county Wayne county Macomb counties of metro Detroit MI please let me know.
Pic of my motor & stage 3 cimotorsports head I want swapped on(don't mind the hack wiring which was done by previous owner & removed)
