420A 420a Cam Sensor

Can someone tell me what is going on here? Looks to me like it's a universal plug for the cam sensor or has the cam sensor been changed out to a newer style? It runs good but the wires on the harness are different color than the plug wires and the cam sensor appears to be upside down in comparison to other photos I've seen of 420a motors.

Looks like someone did a poor job at installing a new connector. It's common for the original to get brittle and break. Not sure why your cam sensor is mounted upside down though unless you have the wrong cams for your engine. I would flip it around and see if it changes how the engine runs. If you have the stock cams or cams designed for the 420a then your ignition timing will be off because of that

I suspect that someone installed it 180 degrees out and then changed the plug wires around until it ran?

I did flip it around and it does start a little better now and seems to run a little smoother
