Ok well i was kinda having the same problem. but mine is a little different maybe you guys can help. I am setup to run 30 psi boost no problem. and up until a couple weeks ago everything was good. First About a month ago I changed the clutch to a act 2600 street disc, the next day the turbo seal blew in the turbo. as everyone knows. that's a mess oil everywhere in the exhaust on the back bumper etc.. SO i sent the turbo back to bullseye performance and they rebuilt it no problem and also took the internal wastegate out. I ordered an external wastegate and also a punishment racing o2 housing. So the car sat for about 3 weeks The other day I got the turbo in and the external wastegate everything seemed to be ok i guess didn't really get in it tooo too much but i got up to about 15 psi boost no problem.. well today i had it out and 1st gear was ok 2nd gear 30 psi pull hard , 3rd gear the car fell flat on its face. wot damn near no pull on the boost and i could hear a loud either sucking or blowing air sound under the hood. almost like no boost was going through and it was venting before any power was made. the rpms didn't shoot up and they were no sluggish either but as soon as it would hit around 4000 rpms it felt like it was sputtering under wot.. the turbo is new, the clutch is new, and i have a new external wastegate and nothing on this built motor is older then 7000 miles.. Does any one have any idea what it could be. ( manual boost controller still the same as it was) I was thinking maybe boost leak but wouldn't that make it run really shitty at idle or not run at all anyway.. Please some one help me.

A boost leak might not be detectable at idle unless it is a HUGE boost leak. Run a boost leak test if you haven't anyway since you put the turbo back on.

What spark plugs are you using? It sounds as if your plugs, wires or coil packs could be bad. If it was a boost leak you would have heard it during your 2nd gear pull at 30 psi. If however you are running that much boost, it wouldn't take much for an improperly install coupler or pipe to have sprung a leak. You can easily blow a coupler/clamp off at that much boost.

I had a problem with my FPR once and it gave me a symptom like that but my car was barely drivable. I would say you should log it and make sure your tune and everything is good too.

BLT for the win, I have found many of leak I did'nt think that I had.

Cool, I will definately try the boost leak test, have looked at a couple of the different couplers and didnt appear to have any problems (cracked broken anything like that) And I believe the are Ngk plugs. and wires, i appreciate the help. Going to look it over now. and see what i can find ill be back with an update soon.

Ok well, no boost leaks everything is good there, However found 1 problem, the hook up on the external wastgate was backwards. so I did fix one problem the air sound underneath the hood is gone now. So I have ordered new wires and ignition coils hopefully this will fix the problem, it seems to be getting progressively worse. so cant wait to see, im getting a little frustrated.

well.. I am at a loss. replaced to coil packs, wires, and plugs, I already had the Ngkbpr8's thats what i replaced them with.. and still the same problem.. now the car will barely get over 5-10 psi and i am getting the "whoosh" of air sound at 8 psi like something is venting, I tried running just the gate with now boost controller and still the same thing.. check the fuel rail and injectors all good... .. I am serously at a loss. any one have any other ideas... ?

does any one think this could be a clogged catalytic converter. maybe thats why it is prematurely venting, because the back pressure is enough to blow the spring in the wastegate open, and that why it is not going into boost ?? i was thinking about that .. does anyone think that is feasible?

Why are you running a BPR8 style plug? I'd bet your fouling them out. Switch to a BPR6ES or BPR7ES for diagnosis and see if things get better.
In addition, you have DSMlink. Post up a log which would be immensely helpful in trouble shooting your problem

I'm betting your BOV is letting some pressure. I've got the same problem with my crushed 1g BOV. It starts to leak at about 23psi. I'm going to try the dodge Garage mod and see if that helps keep the boost inside the IC pipes. I noticed you have a Greddy Type S. Those are notorious for leaking at higher boost levels and are more for the person that wants a cool sound than good function. Since you're already venting your BOV I would look into getting a TiAL BOV to replace the Type S.

Also, with the size turbo you are running, I doubt the Type S is actually venting enough air when it does blow off to keep it from compressor surging.

seems that your problems have started with your new wastegate. And now you are not able to build boost and you are hearing a woosh sound like air is escaping trough something..... open this wastegate cap and look at the diaphragm.... might be shot! look at the valve too, probably not but mabye stuck!

And do the same with your bov, a stuck open bov will cause the same symptoms.:hmm:
