What would Yall recommend for catback exhaust for a non turbo 2g, dont want anything too raspy and annoying my current exaust sounds pretty good but its rusted out and has like a hundred leaks in all the welds

If you can find a Greddy, Apexi, or HKS go with that. But they are far and few and pricey. Maybe others can chime in.

I'm using a Yonaka catback system. It's high quality stainless steel and includes all necessary hardware and gaskets. The muffler is around 12 inches long and packed with fiberglass, so as you can imagine it's not super loud. It is mandrel bent so you'll get the increased flow vs the stock system. At some point I'll do another upgrade for strip & track only, but I highly recommend this system for an aesthetic upgrade and the pitch/tone is great.

Side note, I removed the Magnaflow sticker after installing the system LOL

Here's a video for you. At this time I still had the catalytic convertor installed. Once I installed a test pipe instead, the system sounded a bit louder. But still not raspy, more "growly"

I'm just curious as to why people spend all that money on cat back exhaust systems and not just buy whatever muffler online, then take them to a local muffler shop and have them fabricate you out a system? It's a lot cheaper.
3 reasons:

- it's pretty LOL
- it flows better
- the stock system gets rusty where a SS system won't

People always say that they flow better but these are pretty much strait though systems. I know some of the more expensive systems spend a lot on R&D when making up these systems but really how much more horsepower is it really worth. And yes some of those systems are sexy.

It's not uncommon for the 2GNT factory exhaust to have a kink bend or 2. Aftermarket systems are mandrel bent which flows much better. A good catback system is worth around 5hp with the right conditions.

SR*S is a good cheap brand. Their rs gs exhaust is only like 379, they sound good, and are quality stainless.

Edit: Added link

It's cheaper but like said above, it's mostly for fighting a rusty stock system, more flow, noise, and you do get a performance gain, although negligible. I always get a cat back just for noise personally. I live in AZ so rust and stuff isn't an issue.

I've heard a set of Pacesetter headers 4-2-1 headers with 2.5" pipe to a Borla straight through muffler on a N/T 2g that make the a420s sound awesome. Gives it a low, rumbly tone to it at idle and sings when getting on it. I'm always going to put cat backs on my cars. I'd probably try to put a cat back on a Tesla if I had to :) I have always taken my cars to a exhaust shop to get the larger pipes and whatever "performance" muffler I bought to get whatever horsepower uncorked my brain thinks is corked up in there. haha Ever hear the Bill Cosby stand-up performance he gave where he said "PIPES, LOOK AT THOSE PIPES! Wait till the boys in their Chevys' get a look at those PIPES!" - insert Bill Cosby joke here - LOL
