Ok so I'm replacing the clutch and I need to pull the axles. I keep reading about a way to do it with a screw driver but I dont see how I can wedge a screw driver in there without screwing up the seals? I don't have a prybar and no way to get one at the moment. Any help would be appreciated. Nothing is going right today. Lol

Sometimes they're really REALLY stuck on 2G cars. If you don't have a prybar then you're probably not going to be able to get them out.

Good news is you can work around them and pull the trans out with them still attached.

Thats kind of weird I was able to pull mine out without a prybar , a screwdriver or anything I just ended up yanking the thing out

No shit? How hard is that?

And to the other response...no there still attached to hub

I honestly think it would be a pain to take it out with the axles still attached because after you drop the tranny your going to have to wiggle the axles around to get around everything to be able to fully pull the transmission out, but worst case scenario go ahead and do that everything should be disconnected for you to just take it out with the axles.

Screw driver. You don't need to stick it all the way into the gasket of the axle. The axles has a round end which should be the pivot point for the screw driver. Give it one good yank.
You can't love these cars when you work on them. Treat it like it's not yours. That's how I do it LOL

edit:
So is it stuck to the hub or the tranny? If it's stuck to the hub use a 3/8 extension, align it with the axle and pound on it with a hammer while someone holds the rotor at an angle. Good luck.

Lol. I keep having things go wrong so I have to come inside and take a break. When I rebuilt my truck I probably spent around $200 to replace stupid shit that I broke when I got mad at it. Lol

In the trani.

EDIT...I still confused how I do that with the screwdriver and not #### up the seal? Also I read something about a carrier bearing bracket?

The axles have a cir-clip in the transmission prying breaks theses clips. A blunt tap with a flat head screw driver and a hammer pops them right out just make sure you don't put the screw driver into the axle seal..

I can have a trans out of an awd car in an 1 hour and a half and have the complete clutch job done in little over 3 hours total.

I meant pivot on the tranny not axle. The tip of the driver should be by the round edge of the axle. Wait a few minutes for me to upload a pix.

edit: Something like that! Don't stick it into the axle by the gasket. SORRY PRESCHOOL PAINTING.

And what about this carrier bearing bracket i read about? Does that matter?
Also mines only fwd...never worked on An awd car so not sure that matters but I would think it does.
