420A 2gNT 98 Eclipse RS problem, any help??

I own a 98 Eclipse RS. It's a auto 2.0 DOHC Non Turbo. The car ran and shifted perfect, then wife hit telephone pole at 20 MPH, didn't total it.

I replaced front clip,fenders,hood radiator,etc. The car started up perfect, but its in 2nd gear (limp mode). Took to tyranny shop to have reprogrammed to relearn mode but didn't get it out of limp mode, shows 2 codes solenoid D, and transmission control something (can't find where I wrote it).

The tyranny shop said needed more diagnostic to find problem. But broke at moment. The only time I can get it out of limp mode for 1 sec is unhooking the SRS comp and plug it back in and start car and take off fast than starts to shift than right back to 2nd, any other time its in limp mode as soon as start car.

I pulled the TCU and opened it up to see if I could see anything burnt it was full of gel and looked fine, just wondering if maybe the SRS comp could.keep in limp mode?

Any suggestions. It was perfect till was wrecked. Any help would be appreciated. Thx.

check the transmission wiring harness make sure that it didn't get damaged from the impact

I've checked wireing, there is a plug(censor) that is right on top of granny I'm sot sure what it is, it has a bolt in middle of plug. Is seemed loose so I loosened bolt and disconnected it and checked for damage but didn't see any, I plugged back in and tightened bold. It still moves side to side a lil. I'm not sure if that could be the problem, not sure what that is. Is there any way to troubleshoot what it might be, the codes the tyranny shop pulled, they said since it either wireing prob,or comp prob. Its weird as it happened just cause wreck. Didn't do much damage to car. It barley bent lower radiator support. Also weird if I unhooking the srs.comp under arm rest and hook back up it will start to shift if I take off real fast than right back to 2nd, I've tried to reproduce it but only way is in hooking srs comp for a sec. The srs light still is on but I don't see that being a prob with tyranny.

A buddy put radiator in why I was at work, there's 2 transmission coolant lines that go to radiator and not sure he hooked hoses up right I can't seem to find a diagram for them, could that be prob?

That censor could be a temp sensor, but i don't see how that could cause that. Automatics can be weird.

Think it would be ecu or tcu? Seems weird comp go bad ßme time as wreck

First I would check the codes from your CEL to get a diagnosis. I had a similar issue from an accident I was involved on. My speed sensor was broken causing the tranny to go in limp mode. Keep in mind you have two of them. One is the input speed sensor and the other is the output speed sensor.

Shows 2 codes. P0765 and p0700

P0700 means EATX Controller DTC Present. That means that there is an internal fault inside of the transmission control module, so you'll need a new module I believe.

For the other code here are the possible causes

- Low transmission fluid level
- Dirty transmission fluid
- Faulty UD solenoid valve
- UD solenoid valve harness or connectors
- UD solenoid valve circuit is open or shorted


I would replace the TCM and then go from there.

I looked up p0700 and found transaxle control system. That the same.thing ## referring too

No clue just going by what I read. Also you know those 3 relays behind the battery on the firewall? The 1 is related to the transmission and its like $6 to replace (maybe try that too).

Changed relay few days ago, unhookeed battery for few mins. Still no change

Is there anyway possible to check tcu? I took out and apart it was filled with gel but looked fine

I live in a very very small town, I have no idea who I could try one from, there is a 95 eclipse sane engine as mine at local junkyard. Maybe he let me swap it and see if its a go. He's closed rill Monday. Ill defiantly ask. Would a 95 model work in my 98
