While I have been the guy that has said, "Search first buddy!", another option might be for people to ignore the post that aren't interested in the subject (that is what the subject lines are for) so the new guys can have fun participating in a thread the same way the long time members did "in the day". Or just be really cool, like the one guy did and help him out anyway.
Just a thought.
