1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse GST 6 bolt block 7 bolt head, OBD2 DLC plug has power and ground, my matco scan tool will turn on but cant communicate with any modules, I read a thread were somebody had mentioned that the bluetooth devices did not work very good with these cars so l went ahead and bought another scan tool but once again, scanner will turn on but wont communicate. The ecm is a EPROM with DSMLinkv2 but I dont have the cable, bought the car with it but previous owner lost cable. Sadly cant buy just another cable, I dont wanna buy another DSMLink until I can get my DLC working properly. I tested my wirring between my DLC and my ECM and my wiring appears to be good. DLC port isnt corroted. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm guessing the ECU is defaulting to DSMLink mode and doesn't respond to standard ODB2 initialization. There is a checkbox in the DSMLink interface to turn this on/off but you need the cable to do it. It defaulted to on in V2 to speed up DSMLink connecting to the ECU and you would turn it off if you had to get smogged.

Puting a stock EPROM with factory software back in it likely wouldn't be much help either?

Hi did you ever get this resolved I'm in the same boat I have the same swap same v2 without a cable LOL and car cranks but just won't start and same message link error any info would be great

Hey, yes I ended up buying a new ECM Link V3, I wasn't able to get it to read because the check box was most likely checked in the ECM Link V2 that prevents any other scan tool to communicate to not mess up any tunes

Your profile says you lost the cable. If you were the original purchaser of DSMLink V2 talk to ECMTuning about upgrading to V3, cheap considering what you already have into the car.

Otherwise look local for someone who might have a V2 and will help you with the settings till you can buy V3 or something else.
