2G 2g with a 1g head.....how do i set timing?

it has an adjustable cas, i know on the 1g their is a connector to ground out the timing to set it to 5 degrees btdc. where or what is the procedure for a 2g?

i have a scan tool and it shows in the live data timing at idle....obviously it fluctuates around with rpms. but assuming it idles steady can i at least get it close?

this thread details the how to but when the timing is mentioned it just says, use a timing light. it doesnt add anything to the question.....or rather the answer is you dont ground out anything... just set it. that simple?

Thanks! I dont have a logger atm. So I guess the closest I will get is with the scanner plugged in with live data .
