the BIGGEST you can go on a 6" wheel is 215/50/16 going to a 225 will greatly reduce your handling because the sidewalls bulge out too much and arent as stiff.

alright thank you.. so lets say i decided to get a wider wheel.. whats the max width i can put without rubbing and what would be a nice sticky tire for up front.. ive tried alot of different stuff from sumitomo HTR+'s and Those RSA's that come stock which suck ass in my opinion..

Get some 17X8s if you are a FWDer like myself. Throw some 225/45/17ZR Kuhmo MX tires on there and you will have the best wheel/tire setup you can have.

235+ will rub and some real sticky 225s are better than barely decent 235s.

on my stock 16's i run 235/55/16's goodyears they handle pretty well and got great traction and im a fwd.. they do stick out on the sides a lil but i dont have a problem with it, also they never really rubbed against the wall either. hope this helped you a little

awesome i was hoping someone could tell me from experience if they have ran 235's up front and how they worked.. i need a wider tire like most of you FWD guys and i wanna keep it looking as stock as possible...

I think if you REALLY want traction you could get your stock GST rims widened and slap on some 245/50/16 Nitto DR's

I'm running 225 50R16s on stock 94 RX-7 wheels with no problem and I picked up the rims and tires used for 450. I sold the rims I had on the car (Z racing) with brand new tires for 300, so if you look around on you can find them pretty cheap. The 225s made a huge difference over the 205s I had on before. The only problem is that the center caps off the RX-7 wheels will not fit the front rims.

and whoever said 245's on a stock wheel were a good choice, no way in hell would that work out well.

You wil be hard pressed to find a shop that will slap some 235's on the stock 16x6 or the 17x6.5

well thats wut was on the rims when i bought the car. I thought the same thing most of you guys were thinking and that theyre too big for that kinda rim but surpisingly its been handling well and the traction is g0od. O in case you were wondering their Goodyear Eagle GT's P235/55r16. Here are some pics also mabye they'll help give you a better visual of what they look like

My apologies in advance, I've tried searching but with 56K it became frustrating.

I just bought some stock 17" 99 gsx wheels. They are 17x7.5 I beleive but could be wrong. Just want to know what the common tire size for these wheels are? I need to buy some tires for them. I'm on Eibach Pro's dropped about 2 inches dont know if that needs to be taken into consideration. Appreciate some feedback!

i was wanting to know what the widest wheel/tires you could run on a stock suspension 97 talon...i want to go with a 17 inch wheel..but what would be my max tire width before i start to run into problems?

That will depend greatly on the wheels offset.

40mm offset would probably be what you are after. 245 shouldn't be a problem with that offset. More than likely you'll need to roll the rear fenders though. Maybe not with stock suspension, but definitely if you lower it.

The wheel would need to be at least 8" wide to accomodate a 245 tire, so keep that in mind as well.

I'm buying a 95 GSX but i LOOOOVE the 5-star 16in. chrome wheels from the 97-99 GST's. Will they fit the 95 GSX? Someone told me 97-99 GSXs have larger rear brakes and required the upgrade to 17in wheels b/c the 16in 5 stars wouldn't fit. Is this true? HEEELLP!!!
