I don't think modifying the control arm is advocated by anyone. We pretty much work around it. 225's are an easy fit. 235's are a little tougher but possible with the right offset. Some have 245's or even wider, but I don't think you'll get anything that wide to tuck under your fenders.

You can run wider tires on the same size wheel to an extent. Don't expect to run 315s on a stock wheel, but 225 work and I believe 245s will fit (not sure about the 245s though).

..wouldn't that make your rim move side to side inside of the tire around turns? with all that extra rubber to flex and bend? i'd think you'd corner like ass with such an over-sized tire on the 6" rim.. heh

I bent a stock wheel so I need some new ones, and would like to keep the tires I have now to save money. Someone in my area is selling enkeis that are 16x7. Will my stock tires on a '96 eclipse gs-t fit properly on these aftermarket wheels? All I know is that I have stock 16" wheels, I'm not sure about the width. My car is getting suspension work done at the moment so I can't go and look.

You have 205 55 16 tires. They will fit the 16x7 wheels.

Thank you, I was confused because the person that was selling them had 215 width tires on, but I guess that doesn't matter.

The only other thing I need to worry about is bolt pattern, correct? I know I have a 5x114.3 pattern.

Nope. Just confirm bolt pattern and offset before jumping in head first.

I don't know the stock values for 16" wheels, so I won't even post a guess. Suffice to say that the bolt pattern MUST match exactly, but you will have a few mm of playing room on the offset.

Well, it does matter but normally a tire can fit on a range of width wheels. Stock 205's for instance are good up to about 7" wheel.

i mean on the stock 16" rims that come stock on the GST's.. im gonna leave my stock wheels on the car but need wider tires.. hopefully this clears up my question
