2g upgrade with 1g parts

Ive heard that many 1g parts can be used as upgrades for 2g cars. I have access to a mostly complete 1g talon and was wondering if i could compile a list of parts that i should take off of it for upgrades for my 2g or parts that i could sell.... thanks

The head, cams (m/t), intake manifold and throttle body are about it. You will need the complete thermostat housing as well as front water pipe to install the head on a 2g.

*edit* I forgot to ask what year the 1g was? The above parts should be 91-94 as the front water pipe and TB are different on a 90.

Grab the BOV as well, it is much better than the 2G stocker.

Don't forget about the 14b, that turbo pushes a lot more air than the t25, but you will need to buy or fab an install kit yourself.

I have a 90 tsi AWD and I need to replace my TPS. Is the '90 TPS the same as '91 - '94?

I ask because there is currently a 2g TPS on there and a friend shipped me a 1g TPS. I'm trying to figure out if I can safely bolt it on or not.

AwdMikey - The 90 TPS is different then 91+. You'll need one from a 90 to work on that TB.

Yeah, thanks, sadly I have figured that out. What's on there now is the 90 tps, which no one has! Guess I'll be buying a new one. :thumbdown

-Stock, the head's ports are bigger, but the 2g heads have more potential
-The BOV isn't a gigantic POS(frickin plastic on the 2g)
-The turbo it a little bit bigger. You will need an installation kit. In my opinion, it isn't worth the cost of a installation kit to put a 14B on a 2g. I'd just go with a t28 or larger. But thats my opinion

no its definately worth the cost to put a 14b on a 2g assuming ur buying used parts. pickup a used 14b 100-150$. get some flexible IC piping (like the stock 2g kind) cut it so it fits to your IC and there you go. i guess you might need a J pipe but thats only like 80$ if u dont wanna do it the ghetto way

a 2g 20g from SBR for example is like 900$ so thats much cheaper
