2G Transfer Case Identification

Hey guys, I have a transfer case in my garage. Its a 23 spline but is there any way to check to check the numbers to see what year its from. Im purchasing a rebuilt trans from shep soon so I need to know what year so he can build it to spec. The only numbers on the Xcase are:
2L16
5 607
221

i think the outer casings are the same its just what is inside you just gotta know your spline count. if im wrong please somebody correct me

That video should do you good. That is what I used to double check I recieved the right tcase for my 2g trans.

Ok great, I got the Xcase off a jdm motor so I will have to check the amount of turns to line back up and let shep know what Xcase I have to make the tranny to that xcase. I know the one off the JDM motor is 23 spline so now Ill just check this. Thanks for the vid
