As some of you all know, I've been battling with getting my car running since my return from deployment, and for the hundredth time, I feel like I'm just an inch away from getting it fired up again.
The car was broken into while I was deployed, and my mom misplaced the key, so I had to get a new one made.
My main issue at first, was the CAS, which started smoking one day, which I replaced with a working one. Then I realized that I was blowing the Ign(30A) fuse in the engine bay.
*I was able to trace the source to the Ign1 switch, where the wire harness to the key ignition was burnt up in one spot.
The only circuit on that line that concerned me, was the MFI system. So I cut the line and redirected it straight to the MFI and Fuel Pump relay.
*The MFI relay will work, connected to the ECU (pin38), but the Fuel Pump Relay (pin8) wont, but both will work if pins 4 from each harness are grounded. I can hear the the MFI relay click in-cabin, as well as something in the engine bay (I can't determine exactly what, as I don't have a second set of ears available) and I can hear the fuel pump turn on.
When power was applied to pin 82(ignition switch - IG1) on the ECU, the CEL light does come on. All pins 13, 26, and 92 on the ECU are grounded.
So now, I can hear and smell fuel when I crank my car. so I've got power to the ECU, fuel (which I assume also means my CAS is working properly), and compression, but STILL NO SPARK
So I found that my power transistor unit was bad, and I replaced it with a good one.
*My ECU was being questionable, because that fuel pump at pin 8 wasn't turning on. I replaced both, and am still having issues with no spark?
*I checked pins 11 and 23, the ignition power transistor pins, and when I put the + side of the multimeter and the - side to ground, I get 0.04 volts.
So, I suppose my most major questions are:
* Is it necessary to be getting power IN to pin 8 from the fuel pump relay? Or can I just keep it grounded to keep power to the fuel pump?
* When I re-routed my Ign1 switch and bypassed everything to the MFI relay, did I also bypass something to the ignition system leading to me not having spark?
* Is there a pinout that exists for the power transistor and its wires? I can't find one in the electrical manual.
I've been following along with the thread "no power to the ecu" and trying to mimic and troubleshoot accordingly, but now I'm at a standstill. Thanks in advance!
